If you are looking for a good faith based book to read to your kids, especially your daughters, I highly recommend this one. It is about the early life and blossoming visionary and creative abilities of Hildegard von Bingen, a truly amazing woman from nearly a millenia ago who purportedly received visions from God. She composed music, she wrote books on medicine, language, natural history, but my favorite works of hers are the visions and their thorough interpretation, which are highly applicable and relevant in today's sinful world. If you are looking for a historical figure for your daughter to admire but are exhausted by the leftist, feminist skew, Hildegard is a woman to look on with admiration for sure. My daughter asks me to read this to her almost every day, and I make sure to work in discussions about how it's important to be firm in who you are, to know God is with you, and to let your spirit and God-given gifts shine bright no matter how dry and grey the world is, to use Hildegard's imagery.
