CONFUSION COMES
WHEN EVERY VERSE
IS CLAIMED DOCTRINALLY

~ 2 Timothy 2:15

IN THE CHURCH AGE...

SALVATION IS NOT LOST
ASSURANCE IS

WHEN SCRIPTURE
IS NOT
RIGHTLY DIVIDED

~ 1 John 5:4-5
~ Ephesians 2:8-9

Many believers read the Bible faithfully...

Yet still struggle with fear, doubt, and uncertainty about salvation

The problem is rarely a lack of Scripture...

It is a lack of right division

God's Word is perfect

But when verses are removed from their intended audience and context...

Confusion follows

~ 2 Timothy 2:15 says...

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God... rightly dividing the word of truth."

Rightly dividing does not mean ignoring parts of the Bible

It means handling Scripture the way God designed it to be understood

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO RIGHTLY DIVIDE ?

Before deciding what a verse means doctrinally...

Scripture teaches us to slow down and ask the right questions

We must ask...

Part 2 continues below ๐Ÿ‘‡
Forwarded from ๐•‹โ„๐”ผ ๐•ƒ๐”ธ๐•Š๐•‹ โ„๐Ÿ•›๐•Œโ„
Part 2 continues...

We must ask...

Who was the book written to ?

Was it written directly to Israel

To the Church
(the Body of Christ)

Or to people living in a future time ?

Audience matters

"For whatsoever things were written foretime were written for our learning..."

~ Romans 15:4

Written for us does not always mean written to us

In what context was it written ?

Is the passage historical, prophetic, doctrinal, or instructional ?

Is it before the cross

After the cross

Or dealing with a future period such as the Tribulation ?

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable..."

~ 2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is inspired and profitable

But not all Scripture functions the same way doctrinally

What is God dealing with in that passage?

Is God addressing...

Salvation, discipleship, obedience, warning, judgment, or reward ?

Mixing these categories is what creates fear and doctrinal error

"Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God."

~ 1 Corinthians 10:32

Scripture itself recognizes distinct groups

WHY THIS MATTERS FOR SALVATION

When verses written to...

Israel under the Law...

People facing Tribulation judgment, or those warned about earthly consequences are applied doctrinally to the Church

Believers begin to think salvation is fragile

But Scripture is clear about how salvation works in the Church Age

"For by grace are ye saved through faith... not of works..."

~ Ephesians 2:9-9

"...this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."

~ John 5:4-5

Church Age believers overcome by faith

Not by endurance or maintaining salvation through effort

WHAT ABOUT ENDURANCE PASSAGES ?

Yes...

Scripture speaks of endurance

But not for staying saved in the Church Age

"But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved."

~ Matthew 24:13

This verse is spoken in a Tribulation context

Not to the Body of Christ

When it is forced into Church-Age doctrine

Assurance is lost

And fear replaces faith

Different audience

Different context

Same Bible

Rightly divided

GOD'S PROMISE TO THE CHURCH

~ Ephesians 1:13 says...

"...ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise."

"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish..."

~ John 10:28

God does not give eternal life and then place believers on probation

Eternal life is exactly what it claims to be...

Eternal

IN THE CHURCH AGE, SALVATION IS NOT LOST ASSURANCE IS, WHEN SCRIPTURE IS NOT RIGHTLY DIVIDED

~ 1 John 5:4-5
~ Ephesians 2:8-9

Confusion does not come from God's Word

It comes from misapplying God's Word

FINAL ENCOURAGEMENT...

If you're saved and struggling with doubt...

The answer is not to question Christ's finished work...

It's to handle Scripture carefully

When God's Word is rightly divided...

Truth becomes clear

Fear fades

And assurance grows

       ~1 Corinthians 14:33

Who Was Saint Valentine?

Youโ€™re in a conversation and someone asks, โ€œWhere did Valentineโ€™s Day come from?โ€

What would you say?

Every 14th of February we celebrate Valentineโ€™s Day by exchanging cards, going out for candlelit dinners, and sharing special moments. Though the holiday is now primarily focused on romantic love, it originated as a feast day for a Christian saint.

Although there are varying accounts of his life, there is consensus regarding a basic outline. This video explains what we know about his life.

Did you know? February 14 celebrates St. Valentine (or Valentines!), the martyr(s) whose name became synonymous with love! The Roman Martyrology lists two on this day:

The Roman Priest: A priest and physician in Rome around AD 270 under Emperor Claudius Gothicus. Famous for sanctity and miracles, he boldly refused to worship pagan gods, declaring Christ as true hope. Imprisoned and entrusted to nobleman Asterius, he miraculously healed Asteriusโ€™ blind daughter by prayer, leading the whole household to convert. Enraged, Claudius ordered his beheading on the Via Flaminia in Rome. Buried nearby; a basilica soon honored him.

The Bishop of Terni: About 70 years later (c. 346โ€“347), Bishop Valentine of Interamna (Terni) was summoned to Rome by philosopher Crato to heal his deformed son Chaeremon. Through faith-filled prayer and dialogue, the boy was cured, converting Crato, his family, and students (including Prefect Placidusโ€™ son Abbondius). Furious Placidus arrested and secretly beheaded Valentine at midnight on the Via Flaminia to avoid unrest. His disciples carried his body to Terni for burial; they too were martyred.

Scholars note striking similarities. Both healed miraculously causing conversions, both beheaded on the Via Flaminia, both buried there initiallyโ€ฆso many believe they are one and the same person, with legends blending over time.

The romantic association?

No direct link in his life; it arose in 14th-century England via Geoffrey Chaucerโ€™s Parliament of Fowls, linking Feb 14 to birds mating (nature awakening from winter). Medieval Benedictines spread his cult from Terni to France/England, tying him to spring renewal and love.

Patron of lovers, engaged couples, beekeepers, epilepsy, plague victims. A saint of heroic faith whose feast inspires true love rooted in Christ! โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ’Œโค๏ธโœ๏ธโ˜ฆ๏ธ

How do you recognize Jesus' followers ?

How do you find true Christians ?

Many people claim to be followers of Jesus...

But are they really ?

How do we know ?

In the Gospel of John

Jesus gives us three ways that show we are his true disciples

We abide in his word

( ~ John 8:31-32 )

We bear much fruit

( ~ John 15:8 )

And we love one another

( ~ John 13:35 )

Today...

We focus on our love for one another as a mark of true discipleship

(Part 2 Continues...)

Jesus said to his Disciples...

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another"

~ John 13:34-35

In the immediate context...

This kind of love is defined...

Like Jesus...

We are willing to love and serve each other selflessly and practically

Just as he washed their feet and later went to the cross while protecting them

The Lords ministry revealed he would do almost anything to demonstrate his love for his disciples

Whether extravagant, simple, or something in between

Imagine if we all followed the Lord Jesus' example

And proved ourselves his disciples by loving each other in the same way Jesus demonstrated his love to them

And to us !

There always seems to be some confusion over Jesus' reference to this commandment as "new"

Earlier in His ministry...

Jesus made it explicitly clear that love for others was a cornerstone of obedience to God

( ~ Matthew 22:36โ€“40 )

The general instruction to love then...

Is not being stated as if it's the first time it's being mentioned

The "newness" Jesus refers to here is in the sense of something refreshed, re-emphasized, or highlighted

The Greek term Jesus uses here...

kainฤ“n

Leans heavily toward this version of "new"

This re-issued commandment is being given in the context of Jesus' washing of the disciples' feet as stated in

( ~ John 13:2โ€“5 )

Jesus explained that if the Master acts as a humble servant...

So too should those who follow Him

( ~ John 13:12โ€“17 )

Here...

Jesus doubles down on that idea by setting His own love as the standard to which all believers should aspire

In the next verse...

Jesus will further explain the importance of acting in Christian love

In no uncertain terms love...

Especially between fellow believers...

Is meant to be the primary and most powerful sign of one's Christian faith

( ~ John 13:35 ~ 1 John 3:14 )

~ John 13:31โ€“35
Contains one of the most powerful commands given to Christians

That love for others is the defining sign of faith for

''ALL PEOPLE''

Marking the life of a true believer

Jesus frames this as a new commandment...

Using His own example as the standard

In giving this charge...

Jesus once again predicts His impending death and departure from earth

PRAYER FOR TODAY...

Lord Jesus,

We thank You for the new commandment to love one another just as You have loved us

Sacrificially, Unconditionally, and Humbly

We confess that our love often falls short of this standard

We ask for Your grace to transform our hearts

That we may move beyond selfishness and judgmental attitudes

Fill us with Your Spirit

That we might love our brothers and sisters in Christ

And our neighbors with the same self-sacrificial and serving love You demonstrated

May our lives and actions be a clear reflection of Your love to the world

So that they may recognize us as Your true disciples

In Your Holy Name
We pray

Amen

No matter what surrounds you...

God remains your refuge

His protection is not fragile, fleeting, or uncertain

It is sovereign, faithful, and sure

When fear rises...

His truth stands as your shield

When the path feels unclear

His presence covers you

This scripture is a reminder that you are...

Never unguarded
Never unseen
And Never beyond His care

"He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler."

~ Psalm 91:4

May this verse bring peace, courage, and confidence to every heart that rests in Him
