"Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you"

~ 1 Peter 5:7

"Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved"

~ Psalm 55:22

Do not carry your burdens in your own strength

Lay your burdens at the Feet of Jesus Christ and trust Him

He will give you the Grace, Strength, Wisdom and Courage to deal with your problems

He knows every battle you fight

Every area you are weak in and broken

Every burden you carry

And every hardship you face

His Eyes are fixed upon you

Doubt not His Grace because of your hardship

But believe that He loves you as much in seasons of trouble

As in times of happiness

Part 2 continues...

The battles, burdens and hardships...

He has allowed in your life...

Have a purpose

Through your hardship...

He is training u to be a man of God

He is strengthening your soul

And lifting your spirit upward towards eternal things

While separating you from the things of this world

He is working things out for your good

Jesus' Hands were pierced for your Redemption

And you shall surely feel that same Hand comforting you

Anxiety makes us doubt God's lovingkindness...

And thus our love to Him grows cold

We feel mistrust

And thus grieve the Spirit of God

So that our prayers become hindered

Our consistent example marred

And our life one of self-seeking

Thus want of confidence in God leads us to wander far from Him

But if through simple faith in His Promise...

We cast each burden as it comes upon Him

And are "careful for nothing"

Because He undertakes to care for us

It will keep us close to Him

And strengthen us against much temptation

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee"

~ Isaiah 26:3

Make God your Strength

And fight in His Strength

Not your own

It is when you are weak that you are really strong

Because God's Strength is manifested in your weakness

And His Grace is sufficient

Make God your Refuge

And your Hiding Place

Do not worry yourself

Thirsty and Thankful

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.

Psalms 42:1
โ€œ(To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah.) As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.โ€

Psalm 42:1-5

Two friends and I were checking off a bucket list itemโ€”hiking the Grand Canyon. We wondered if we had enough water as we started out our hike, and it ran out fast. We were completely out of water with still a ways to go to reach the rim. Panting, mixed with praying, set in. Then we rounded a corner and what we maintain as a miracle happened. We spotted three water bottles tucked in a cleft in the rock with a note: โ€œKnew youโ€™d need this. Enjoy!โ€ We looked at each other in disbelief, whispered a thank-you to God, took a couple of much-needed sips, and then set out on the last stretch. Iโ€™ve never been so thirstyโ€”and thankfulโ€”in my life.

The psalmist didnโ€™t have a Grand Canyon experience, but itโ€™s clear he knew how a deer acts when thirsty and possibly scared. The deer โ€œpantsโ€ (Psalm 42:1), a word that brings to mind thirst and hunger, to the point where if something doesnโ€™t change, youโ€™re afraid you might die. The psalmist equates the deerโ€™s degree of thirst to his desire for God: โ€œso my soul pants for you, my Godโ€ (v. 1).

Like much-needed water, God is our ever-present help. We pant for Him because He brings renewed strength and refreshment to our weary lives, equipping us for whatever the dayโ€™s journey holds.

Reflect & Pray

When have you been intensely thirsty or hungry, and scared? Why should you be longing for Godโ€™s presence?

Loving God, thank You for the renewed strength I experience as You fill my life. Forgive me for looking to any other source but You.

~Our Daily Bread

John Brown (1800โ€“1859)

Devout evangelical Christian abolitionist shaped by strict Calvinist upbringing and early conversion. He saw slavery as a grave sin against God and Scripture (e.g., Exodus on justice for the oppressed), viewing himself as Godโ€™s instrument to end it.

Influenced by Puritan ideals, he rejected pacifism, believing violent resistance justified when peaceful efforts failed, drawing from Old Testament deliverance stories. His actions included aiding the Underground Railroad, fighting in Bleeding Kansas, and leading the 1859 Harpers Ferry raid to spark a slave uprisingโ€”a โ€œholy crusadeโ€ in his eyes.

Executed for treason, he died calmly affirming his faith: his goal was โ€œto make the Bible true.โ€

Brown shows radical zeal for justice (Micah 6:8), yet his violence prompts reflection on righteous means. His life urges believers to boldly oppose systemic evil while trusting Godโ€™s sovereignty (Romans 12:19).

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be movedโ€

[Psalms 55:22]

Oftentimes, all we can do lay our burdens down at the foot of the Cross and keep pressing forward

God is faithful. There is always a reason to the season He places us in and it is always for our betterment

May the Lord test and refine us all

His Will (not our own) be done

We stand with you, squirrel

The world has indeed gone nuts

Up is down, on is off, war is peace, slavery is freedom, evil is good, hate is love, deceit is truth, chaos is order, theatrics is realityโ€”to name a few

As absurd as it may seem, this is the current state of the world: inverted

Isaiah 5:20 serves as a warning

โ€œWoe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitterโ€

Reject conformity to this fallen world

Be separate and seek the Lord

๐Ÿ”– The Age of Paradoxes โœ๏ธ

๐ŸŸก The twentieth century was a time of great paradoxes, as the church fell into decline in some parts of the world, but grew and flourished in others. In the first two decades, many in the West envisioned the triumph of Christianity in a golden age of peace and progress for the human race, but this vision died in the carnage and destruction of two world wars.

๐Ÿ”ดRationalistic Modernism assailed the trustworthiness of Holy Scripture, sending great denominations into swift decline, as "the battle for the Bible" beset them. At the same time, Pentecostalism appeared as a tiny offshoot of Methodism and grew into a significant third force in Christendom, augmented by the charismatic movement of the 1970s. The Reformed faith was eclipsed in the early decades of the century, but since 1960. has recovered on both sides of the Atlantic, extending its reach to many parts of the developing world.

๐ŸฆAs decadent Western churches retreated from missionary work, under pressure of declining memberships and shrinking revenue, the newly planted churches of Africa and Asia grew apace. Communism waged a long and brutal campaign to destroy Christianity in the name of materialism and atheism, but failed, falling into the dustbin of history. There is a vibrant church in Russia today, and more Christians in China than in any other nation in the world. The church in the West has declined in faith and numbers, poisoned by Modernism, battered by secularism, and emasculated by worldliness. But God has continued to send forth His Word to the ends of the earth, bringing people to Himself through Christ, planting churches everywhere and building His kingdom in the hearts of His redeemed people.

โœจThe twentieth century was hard on the churches in Europe and North America. At the beginning of the century, in many places, nearly everyone went to church as a matter of course. The rejection of evangelical theology and biblical Calvinism was regarded as a necessary adjustment to changing times; few could see that it would end with the "Death of God" theology of the 1960s. For a time, the deceptive "Neo-Orthodoxy" of Karl Barth promised to save the church from sterile, destructive Modernism, only to disappoint all but its most zealous exponents. In the wake of the two world wars, thousands gave up churchgoing in Britain, the Netherlands. and elsewhere in Europe. Churchgoing increased in the United States during the 1950s, only to fall off sharply in the 1960s, though it remained considerably higher than in Europe.

๐ŸŒธThere were exceptions to the general rule. Evangelicals belatedly realized that their denominations had been hijacked by Modernism and began to protest in the name of the "fundamentals" of the faith. For better or worse "Fundamentalism" became a force in American church life. To stem the tide of unbelief, mass evangelistic campaigns were organized in urban centers, led by Billy Sunday and, later Billy Graham. Movements to recover the historic Reformed faith were led by able men such as J. Gresham Machen, founder of Westminster Seminary and the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. In Britain, D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones drew large congregations to London's Westminster Chapel, and through his influence the Banner of Truth Trust began to republish outstanding but long-forgotten works of Reformed and Puritan theology.

โœจMeanwhile, the younger churches of the developing Third World, planted by missionaries in the nineteenth century, began to flourish. In Latin America, Pentecostalism succeeded in breaking the iron grip of Roman Catholicism and drew many thousands into its ranks. Presbyterian and Reformed churches were planted in the Caribbean islands, as well as in Central and South America. In Asia there came to be Christians of many kinds in China, a thriving if sometimes-discordant family of Presbyterian churches in Korea, and significant numbers of Reformed churches in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and elsewhere. As for Africa, huge numbers of Christians adhered to churches of all kinds often coming into conflict with the forces of Islam spreading down from the north.

โœจIn the Middle East, historic Christian populations are shrinking under persecution at the hands of militant Islamists. The clash with Islam continues in Pakistan, Indonesia, and elsewhere in the world. But the record of church history teaches us to hold fast to Christ, assured that He is with us always, even to the end of the world. He will build up His church and kingdom to all generations.

The more you lead a self-focused life

The more you're prone to discouragement

Every time you forget that it's not about you...

You're going to get...

Prideful

Fearful

Bitter

Those feelings will always lead to discouragement

Because they keep you focused on yourself

The Bible says in...

~ 2 Corinthians 4:5

"Our message is not about ourselves. It is about Jesus Christ as the Lord. We are your servants for his sake"

It's not about you !

God put you on this earth...

And he has a message he wants to declare to the world through you

But your life message is not about you

It's about Jesus Christ

I chose those four words...

"It's not about you"

Is the most countercultural message you could give in today's world

Nearly everything in society...

Songs

Video games

TV shows

News stories

And advertisements

Says you've got to think about yourself first

For the rest of our lives...

We are going to be constantly tested on that phrase

You have to repeat it to yourself 20 times plus a day !

When someone

Praises you

Criticizes you

Misjudges you

Or disagrees with you...

You have to remind yourself

"It's not about me"

Why ?

Because when you focus on yourself...

You're going to get discouraged

Instead...

As Paul says in today's verse...

We are servants for Jesus' sake

That means we are motivated to serve others because of what Jesus has done for us

God is always more interested in why you're doing what you're doing

Than he is in what you're actually doing

He cares about the motivations of your heart

Why you're doing something always determines how long you're going to do it

If you're motivated by selfish ambition...

That will never be good enough

You'll eventually get discouraged and quit

But when you're motivated to do something because of how it advances the Gospel and glorifies Jesus...

You will have the encouragement you need to see it through

The darkest moments in your life are the moments when God truly becomes real to you. You can never see God as a healer if you donโ€™t know what it is to be sick. You can never see God as a provider if you donโ€™t know what it is to have nothing. You can never see that God restores if you donโ€™t know what it is to be broken.

I can tell you today that I have overcome a number of things when I look back, and I can see that it was only God. It was not by luck, it was not by my own strength, it was not by chance, no, it was only by the hand of God.

And when God truly becomes real to you, your worship changes. The Bible then becomes more than just a book for you. Worship becomes more than just a song. He is more than just a religious figure in your life. He is more than just a checklist in your daily or Sunday life.

When He truly becomes real to you, you speak differently, you worship differently, you want to hear more from Him. You even want to spend more time with Him.

Donโ€™t close your heart to what God is doing in moments like these in your life. Open your heart, because these are moments when God truly becomes real to you!

The landscape is changing rather quickly and countless people [including some Christians] are so deeply entrenched in this worldly [idolatrous] geopolitical system that they cannot see the transformations taking place right before their eyesโ€ฆ

Tyranny is increasing

Governments are conspiring

Technology is advancing

Currency is devaluing

โ€œWeather patternsโ€ are shifting

Food supplies are being tainted

Not to mention the spiritual aspect

Satan is externalizing

Deception is unfolding

Wickedness is abounding

False doctrine is spreading

False gospels are scattering

Hearts are hardening

Unbelief is growing

[to name a few]

The only constant?

Jesus Christ. The same yesterday, today, and forever [Heb. 13:8]

He grants us peace in these strange times, for He is the Prince of Peace

Seek Him while He may be found

Point others to Him

WHAT JESUS MEANT WHEN HE SAID...

HE HAD NOWHERE TO LAY HIS HEAD

Jesus said...

" The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head "

Imagine having no home, no stability, nowhere to rest

That's what Jesus was saying about Himself

But why would the King of Kings live like this ?

And what does it mean for us today ?

Jesus Chose a Life Without Comfort

Why ?

Most of us chase security-a job, a house, financial comfort

Yet...

Jesus

The most important person to ever live...

Chose to have none of it

He could have had wealth and status

But instead...

He lived as a wanderer

Relying completely on God

Why ?

Because He wanted to show us that this world is not our home

What Does This Mean for Us Today ?

It challenges what we think we need

We act like we can't function without money, stability, or a plan

But Jesus is saying...

"Those things aren't your security-l am"

If we lost everything...

Would we still trust Him ?

If He called us into the unknown...

Would we go ?

Following Him means being willing to let go of everything

It challenges how we see others

We judge people by their circumstances...

We see a homeless person and assume they made bad choices...

But Jesus chose to live like someone society looks down on

Maybe we need to rethink how we see people in difficult situations

It challenges how we follow Jesus

A lot of people want to follow Jesus...

Until it costs them something

" I'll follow You, Jesus, but I don't want to be uncomfortable "

" I'll follow You, but I need financial security first "

" I'll follow You, but not if it means uncertainty "

Jesus is saying...

" That's not how this works "

If we only follow Him when it's easy...

We're not really following Him at all

The Real Question:

Is Jesus Our Security ?

Jesus didn't promise an easy, predictable life

He promised something better...

A life where God is our source

Maybe for some...

That means selling everything and moving for missions

Maybe for others...

It means stepping into the unknown and trusting God

The question isn't...

" Can I follow Jesus and still have security ? "

The question is...

" Is Jesus my security ? "

Final Thought:

What If We Really Lived Like This ?

If we stopped chasing comfort and started chasing Jesus...

If we stopped judging people by their circumstances...

If we actually trusted Him...

Maybe then we'd finally understand why Jesus lived the way He did

And maybe then we'd start following Him for REAL
