๐Ÿ“š VALLEY of DRY BONES prt. 2

Most people read the Valley of Dry Bones like itโ€™s a motivational poster. โ€œGod can bring your dreams back.โ€ โ€œGod can revive your purpose.โ€ But thatโ€™s not what the text is doing first. The valley is a mirror. Itโ€™s God dragging His prophet into the true condition of His people when theyโ€™ve been crushed, scattered, and spiritually emptied. Israel had already said it out loud: โ€œOur bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.โ€ (Ezekiel 37:11)
Thatโ€™s not therapy language, thatโ€™s spiritual death language.

And hereโ€™s what should shake modern Christianity: the bones represent Godโ€™s covenant people, not pagans. The valley isnโ€™t โ€œthe world.โ€ Itโ€™s what happens when Godโ€™s people lose the fear of God, lose hope, and reduce faith to survival. Itโ€™s what happens when religion keeps the rituals but the Spirit leaves the room. You can have structure and still be dead. You can have sermons and still be dry. You can have crowds and still be bones.

Then God does something that destroys the โ€œself-help gospel.โ€ He doesnโ€™t tell Ezekiel to gather the bones himself. He doesnโ€™t tell him to strategize, brand, repackage, or make it more โ€œrelevant.โ€ God tells the prophet to preach to the bones. Preach to what canโ€™t respond. Preach to what has no pulse. Preach to what cannot applaud you, follow you, or validate you. โ€œProphesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.โ€ (Ezekiel 37:4)
In other words: the Word comes first. Not emotion. Not vibe. Not music. Not momentum. The Word.

And something happens that should terrify every person who thinks God is obligated to bless whatever they call โ€œchurch.โ€ There is movement. There is noise. There is assembling. Bone to bone. Sinews. Flesh. Skin. It looks alive. It looks impressive. It looks like a revival.

But it still isnโ€™t living.

Because Ezekiel says the part many Christians forget: โ€œthere was no breath in them.โ€ (Ezekiel 37:8)
Do you see it? You can build a body without a life. You can have form without breath. You can have a congregation without the Spirit. You can have Christianity without Christ. And if you donโ€™t think that happens, you havenโ€™t been paying attention.

So God commands again. Not โ€œtry harder.โ€ Not โ€œbe positive.โ€ He commands breath. He commands Spirit. โ€œCome from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.โ€ (Ezekiel 37:9)
The living God does what no human effort can do: He raises an army from a valley of death. Not a motivational crowd. An army. Because resurrection isnโ€™t meant to produce fans โ€“ it produces witnesses. It produces people who have seen what death really is and refuse to pretend.

This is where the passage becomes a warning shot to America and the West. We have more Bibles than any generation. More podcasts, more worship albums, more conferences, more Christian merch. And yet the fruit is often thin: less holiness, less repentance, less fear of God, more compromise, more addiction, more cowardice, more worship of comfort. If Ezekiel walked into many churches today, heโ€™d recognize the building โ€“ but he might not recognize the breath.

The Valley of Dry Bones is not God telling you to โ€œbelieve in yourself.โ€ Itโ€™s God proving that He is the only one who can resurrect what weโ€™ve allowed to die. Itโ€™s God saying: your nation, your family, your faith, and your church cannot be sustained by sentiment. Only the Spirit gives life. And the Spirit is not a mascot for your plans โ€” He is the breath of the Holy God.

๐Ÿ“š VALLEY of DRY BONES prt. 3

If youโ€™re offended by this story, it might be because youโ€™ve made peace with dryness. Youโ€™ve learned to live with dead prayer. Dead awe. Dead conviction. Dead obedience. Youโ€™ve called it โ€œmaturity.โ€ God calls it bones.

But here is the hope that punches through the horror: God goes into valleys. God speaks into death. God resurrects what is beyond human repair. Not for your comfort, but for His glory. Not to make you safe, but to make you alive.

So the real question isnโ€™t whether the bones can live. The real question is whether youโ€™re willing to admit youโ€™ve been dry โ€“ and whether youโ€™ll stop settling for a form of godliness without power. Because God is still asking His people the same question, and Heโ€™s still giving the same answer: My Spirit. My Word. My life.

~ Psalm 46:1:
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

~ Psalm 61:2:
"From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I."

~ Job 37:10:
"By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened."

~ Psalm 147:16-17:
"He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes. He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?"

~ Job 37:6:
"For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength."

Let's Pray...

Almighty Father God,

Who by Thy breath gives ice and makes the waters solid

( ~ Job 37:10 )

We come to Thee in this time of storm and deep freeze

Thou art our rock

That is higher than we

( ~ Psalm 61:2 )

We ask for Thy protection over

Our homes

Our families

Our communities

Our Trees

Our power lines

Lord,

We ask that Thou wouldst be our refuge and strength

A very present help in trouble

( ~ Psalm 46:1 )

Keep the roads safe

Protect the emergency crews

And restore light to the darkness

We trust in Thy power and mercy

        In Jesusโ€™ Name

               Amen

Martin Luther King Jr. didnโ€™t just fight for civil rights โ€” he stood with the Jewish people and he stood with Israel.

He called out antisemitism when others stayed silent. He warned the world: โ€œWhen people criticize Zionists, they mean Jews.โ€

MLK knew that real justice doesnโ€™t play favorites. You canโ€™t fight racism and ignore Jew-hate. You canโ€™t claim to love peace and deny Israelโ€™s right to defend itself.

Today isnโ€™t just a day to post quotes, itโ€™s a day to choose between light and darkness.
Stand with truth. Stand with courage. Stand with Israel, like Dr. King did. #MLKDay

"Awesome God" Lyrics:

Written by: Johnny Vanzant, Donnie Vanzant, Carl Lindquist

I see it in your face
I hear it in your voice
Yeah, somethingโ€™s happening
Oh, to you โ€“ Yeah, to you
His spiritโ€™s jumping on you
I can see it coming through
Go spread the word of Godโ€™s love
Oh, you canโ€™t hold back
No, you canโ€™t hold back
Shower the world with His truth
Teach the children well
Go tell them of salvation
โ€˜Bout the good news
Oh, the good news

Our God (Our God) is an awesome God
Heโ€™s an awesome God
Oh, an awesome God
Our Lord (Our Lord)
Oh, Heโ€™s coming back
Yeah, Heโ€™s coming back
Oh, Heโ€™s coming back
For me and you

Iโ€™m gonna follow you, my Lord
For the rest of my days
I know you died for all of us
Youโ€™re every breath I take
I want to tell the world my story
And how I gave my life to you
I prayed the sinnerโ€™s prayer, Lord...

โžก๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅI watched a woman break down in regret, and it cut deep.๐Ÿ’”โฌ‡๏ธ

๐ŸŸกYears ago, a Christian man proposed to her. He told her she didnโ€™t have to grind herself into the ground. She could build a home. Raise children. Be covered. Be protected. Be cherished. She was offended. Feminism told her that offer was an insultโ€ฆ that dependence was weaknessโ€ฆ that partnership was oppression.

โžก๏ธShe chose the lie.

๐ŸŸกYears later, the tears came. Not tears of angerโ€ฆ tears of realization. She had everything feminism promised and nothing it could sustain. No family legacy. No peace. No covering. Just exhaustion, resentment, and the haunting knowledge that the door she slammed shut never reopened.

๐ŸŸกThis is what liberal feminism never shows women.
It canโ€™t love you.
It canโ€™t protect you.
It canโ€™t age with you.
It canโ€™t hold you when reality finally speaks.

๐ŸŸกIt teaches women to despise the very men willing to sacrifice for themโ€ฆ then leaves them alone to explain why fulfillment never arrived.

๐ŸŸกAs a counselor, Iโ€™ve seen this story repeat itself over and over. Feminism doesnโ€™t free womenโ€ฆ it isolates them. It trades covenant for applause, legacy for ego, and then disappears when the bill comes due.

โžก๏ธGodโ€™s design wasnโ€™t oppression.
It was provision.
And too many women were lied to before they were old enough to see the cost.

โžก๏ธThat regret I saw wasnโ€™t political.
It was spiritual.๐Ÿ™

โžก๏ธAnd it was devastating.๐Ÿ˜”

Father in Heaven,

Holy and righteous in all of Your ways

We confess that we do not always make the most of our thought time

We often allow our minds to drift away into areas we shouldn't explore

We will occasionally get too focused on things that are inconsequential

We want our mind and our hearts more in tune with You

Your Word

Your will

And Your way

Give us true wisdom

Enlightened by Your Spirit to see, know, absorb and contemplate the things that are closest to Your heart

In Jesus' name

Amen

"Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you"

~ 1 Peter 5:7

"Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved"

~ Psalm 55:22

Do not carry your burdens in your own strength

Lay your burdens at the Feet of Jesus Christ and trust Him

He will give you the Grace, Strength, Wisdom and Courage to deal with your problems

He knows every battle you fight

Every area you are weak in and broken

Every burden you carry

And every hardship you face

His Eyes are fixed upon you

Doubt not His Grace because of your hardship

But believe that He loves you as much in seasons of trouble

As in times of happiness

The battles, burdens and hardships...

He has allowed in your life...

Have a purpose

Through your hardship...

He is training u to be a man of God

He is strengthening your soul

And lifting your spirit upward towards eternal things

While separating you from the things of this world

He is working things out for your good

Jesus' Hands were pierced for your Redemption

And you shall surely feel that same Hand comforting you

Anxiety makes us doubt God's lovingkindness...

And thus our love to Him grows cold

We feel mistrust

And thus grieve the Spirit of God

So that our prayers become hindered

Our consistent example marred

And our life one of self-seeking

Thus want of confidence in God leads us to wander far from Him

But if through simple faith in His Promise...

We cast each burden as it comes upon Him

And are "careful for nothing"

Because He undertakes to care for us

It will keep us close to Him

And strengthen us against much temptation

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee"

~ Isaiah 26:3

Make God your Strength

And fight in His Strength

Not your own

It is when you are weak that you are really strong

Because God's Strength is manifested in your weakness

And His Grace is sufficient

Make God your Refuge

And your Hiding Place

Do not worry yourself

Thirsty and Thankful

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.

Psalms 42:1
โ€œ(To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah.) As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.โ€

Psalm 42:1-5

Two friends and I were checking off a bucket list itemโ€”hiking the Grand Canyon. We wondered if we had enough water as we started out our hike, and it ran out fast. We were completely out of water with still a ways to go to reach the rim. Panting, mixed with praying, set in. Then we rounded a corner and what we maintain as a miracle happened. We spotted three water bottles tucked in a cleft in the rock with a note: โ€œKnew youโ€™d need this. Enjoy!โ€ We looked at each other in disbelief, whispered a thank-you to God, took a couple of much-needed sips, and then set out on the last stretch. Iโ€™ve never been so thirstyโ€”and thankfulโ€”in my life.

The psalmist didnโ€™t have a Grand Canyon experience, but itโ€™s clear he knew how a deer acts when thirsty and possibly scared. The deer โ€œpantsโ€ (Psalm 42:1), a word that brings to mind thirst and hunger, to the point where if something doesnโ€™t change, youโ€™re afraid you might die. The psalmist equates the deerโ€™s degree of thirst to his desire for God: โ€œso my soul pants for you, my Godโ€ (v. 1).

Like much-needed water, God is our ever-present help. We pant for Him because He brings renewed strength and refreshment to our weary lives, equipping us for whatever the dayโ€™s journey holds.

Reflect & Pray

When have you been intensely thirsty or hungry, and scared? Why should you be longing for Godโ€™s presence?

Loving God, thank You for the renewed strength I experience as You fill my life. Forgive me for looking to any other source but You.

~Our Daily Bread

John Brown (1800โ€“1859)

Devout evangelical Christian abolitionist shaped by strict Calvinist upbringing and early conversion. He saw slavery as a grave sin against God and Scripture (e.g., Exodus on justice for the oppressed), viewing himself as Godโ€™s instrument to end it.

Influenced by Puritan ideals, he rejected pacifism, believing violent resistance justified when peaceful efforts failed, drawing from Old Testament deliverance stories. His actions included aiding the Underground Railroad, fighting in Bleeding Kansas, and leading the 1859 Harpers Ferry raid to spark a slave uprisingโ€”a โ€œholy crusadeโ€ in his eyes.

Executed for treason, he died calmly affirming his faith: his goal was โ€œto make the Bible true.โ€

Brown shows radical zeal for justice (Micah 6:8), yet his violence prompts reflection on righteous means. His life urges believers to boldly oppose systemic evil while trusting Godโ€™s sovereignty (Romans 12:19).

We stand with you, squirrel

The world has indeed gone nuts

Up is down, on is off, war is peace, slavery is freedom, evil is good, hate is love, deceit is truth, chaos is order, theatrics is realityโ€”to name a few

As absurd as it may seem, this is the current state of the world: inverted

Isaiah 5:20 serves as a warning

โ€œWoe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitterโ€

Reject conformity to this fallen world

Be separate and seek the Lord
