Devotional: Light in the Last Days - Day 3
The topic of the Rapture really excites me and it stirs my spirit! God does not leave His children to despair during these times of what is happening in and around the world today. The times are changing so rapidly, and thereโs fear in the hearts of mankind: fear of the unknown! When is the next pandemic going to happen, and where is it going to lead us? Are we going to remain hostages in our own homes, cut off from friends and family, longing for the freedom to gather and share? Are people going to be restricted from purchasing even the basic necessities of life if they are not vaccinated, or if they donโt convert to digital currency? Will citizens lose their freedoms in order to corral them, living in a society that prioritizes control over its citizens? Americans, and the world for that matter, have no idea what is to come, and that uncertainty can be paralyzing. But the born-again Christian isnโt looking to this world for his hope. We look to Christ, who is our anchor in the storm and offers us peace amidst chaos! Why? Because in Him, we find assurance that no matter the challenges we face, our hope and future are secure in His hands. Letโs look and see, as we reflect on the promises found in His Word, which guide us through this tumultuous journey.
The Rapture is an event that will definitely happen, ushering in a significant moment in a biblical timeline. The timing of the Rapture is uncertain, yet the event itself is most surely going to occur, as affirmed by various scriptural prophecies throughout the Bible. This is why it is considered to be imminent, creating a sense of urgency and anticipation among believers. Historically, the Thessalonians were so eager for this event that they mistakenly thought it had already happened, leading to confusion and concern within their community. In response to this misunderstanding, the Apostle Paul precisely addresses their fears in 2 Thessalonians, giving them understanding about the sequence of events and reassuring them that they have not missed this precious moment in Godโs plan. This exchange emphasizes the importance of understanding the teachings surrounding the Rapture, as it serves to strengthen the faith of those awaiting this blessed event.

Translation of the Dutch Christian Vault post:
Perhaps you've heard this before:
Many people view the Bible as a collection of human texts.
But I believe that the Bible was not written solely by humans.
Yes, there were approximately 40 writers - 39 Jews and 1 non-Jew - spread over 1500 years, 3 continents, and 3 languages. Some lived before each other, others after.
And yet, from Genesis to Revelation, there is a single thread, a single message.
Put 20 people in a room and let them write about one subject - you won't get unity.
This unity can only be explained by the inspiration of the Almighty God, the Alpha and the Omega.

New Yearโs Blues
In a Peanuts strip Lucy once grumbled to poor Charlie Brown about the awful New Year she was having.
She complained that problems abounded, and she felt that difficulties were around every corner.
Then she said, โI donโt think this is a New Year at allโI think weโve been stuck with a USED year!!!โ ๐๐คฃ๐

โก Another year of progress, another year of praise,

"And He turned Him unto His disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:
For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them."
These two verses highlight the immense privilege of Jesus' disciples, who were blessed to privately see and hear the unfolding of God's kingdom in Jesus' ministry, a fulfillment of prophecies long foretold by the prophets, while emphasizing the unique spiritual insight and the ultimate revelation found in Christ's presence that we can read about. May these verses remind you to fix our eyes on Jesus, as this new year has just been welcomed...

๐ WHEN GOD SPEAKS
Are all subjective personal experiences with Jesus likewise condemned?
No. Everyone who has believed the Gospel began a personal intimate relationship with Him. That canโt take place without the involvement, to some degree, of oneโs emotions. It may also include some form of personal communication with Jesusโif He chooses, how He chooses, and when He chooses.
The principle of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit personally interacting with believers is found throughout Scripture. Paulโs life in Christ reveals his often-subjective guidance and communication with the Holy Spirit. Subjective? Yes. For example, Paul is forbidden by the Spirit to preach in Bithynia and is redirected to Macedonia (Acts 16:7-10). That communication was subjective, meant only for Paul at that time. Was this an objective command of God, indicating that believers are never to go to Bithynia to preach? No! Peter writes to believers in Bithynia, so obviously the Gospel was preached and believed there (1 Peter 1:1-2).
Three things are demonstrated in those verses and many others:
โถ๏ธ 1) The principle that God communicates to believers is established.
โถ๏ธ 2) He communicates objectively through instructions and commands for all who read His Word.
โถ๏ธ 3) He communicates personally and subjectively with individual believers.
โถ๏ธ Should the Lord choose to communicate with a believer on a personal basis, that must neither be received as though it were equal to the Scriptures nor put forth in any way that supplements or supplants Godโs Word.
Furthermore, as with every spiritual experience, it must be tested:
โ Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God. (1 John 4:1)
The critical test is whether or not the content of the communication or the experience is:
โถ๏ธ a) True to the teachings of Scripture and
โถ๏ธ b) True to the revealed character of the persons of the Godhead.
Books promoting conversations with God such as God Calling, A Course in Miracles, Conversations with God, and Jesus Calling, to name but a few, have become best sellers within Christendom, mostly because so few Christians seem interested in applying biblical discernment, which is in direct disobedience to Paulโs exhortation to Timothy:
โ Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
The two women who channeled โJesusโ in God Calling said they felt highly privileged for being selected to be personally taught by him and indicated they were more comfortable not having to rely on written words. Who wouldnโt want to be personally spoon fed by Jesus and be convinced that His teaching content was at a higher level than what has been written down in the Bible? Thatโs an incredibly powerful seduction and one that is deceiving millions today.
๐ Pray for those who have been drawn in by those who โspeak not according to [Godโs] wordโ (Isaiah 8:20); and pray for the shepherds who are not warning their sheep in solemn words that:
โ Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. (Proverbs 30:5-6)
