THE IMPORTANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE WORLD TODAY

~ John 7-11
~ Zechariah 4:6

Perhaps one of the most confused and abused subjects in the Word of God today is the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit.

LET'S LOOK AT THREE THOUGHTS ABOUT HIM...

1. HIS PROPER RECOGNITION

A. Who is the Holy Spirit?

-He is not a second class God

-He is not a substitute for God

-HE IS GOD- He is no less God than God the Father or the Son.

B. When did the Holy Spirit begin His work in the World?
( ~ Genesis 1:2 )

-Some believe that God the Father was in the Old Testament,

-God the Son in the Gospels, and

-God the Spirit after Pentecost

C. God the Spirit, God the Father, and God the Son are not three

Gods but one God manifested in three personalities.

-They are Co-equal, Co-eternal, and Co-existent

II. HIS POWER REQUIRED

There is a great need today that we learn the importance of the power of the Holy Spirit in the work of God today.

ONLY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT CAN:

A. Convict of sin
( ~ John 16:7-8 )

B. Convert the sinner
( ~ John 3:5-6 )

C. Conduct the services
( ~ John 4:23-24 )

D. Comfort the saints
( ~ John 14:16-18 )

E. Conquer old Satan
( ~ I John 4:4 )

III. HIS PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP

Thank God that the Holy Spirit is a person, and because of this we can have a personal relationship with Him.

Sometimes we do things or allow things in our lives that hinders this personal relationship.

Remember...

This does not destroy our sonship,

But our fellowship.

HERE ARE SEVEN DONT'S THAT WILL ENABLE US TO HAVE A BETTER RELATIONSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT...

1. Don't grieve Him
( ~ Ephesians 4:30 )

2. Don't quench Him
( ~ I Thessalonians 5:19 )

3. Don't despite Him
( ~ Hebrews 10:29 )

4. Don't ignore Him,

Who (David) is expert at playing, and a strong man and a man of war, and he is wise in his words, and pleasing in looks, and the Lord is with him



4. Hiram is an expert Worker in Brass

Then king Solomon sent and got Hiram from Tyre... he was full of wisdom and knowledge and an Expert worker in brass



5. Ezra, Apollos are an expert Teachers in the Bible

~ Ezra 7:6

Ezra was a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses

~ Acts 18:24

Now a certain Jew named Apollos, a man of learning, and he had great knowledge of the holy Writings



6. Daniel is an expert Wiser in all vision

~ Daniel 1:17

Now as for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and made them expert in all book learning and wisdom: and Daniel was wise in all Visions and dreams



7. Paul is Expert Trainer in the Law

~ Acts 22:3

Paul studied under Gamaliel and was thoroughly trained in the law of our ancestors

Good morning.

The reason you feel Charlie’s death so deeply is because grief doesn’t measure itself by proximity. It measures itself by meaning. You didn’t have to know him personally to feel the sting of his absence, because when a voice like his goes silent, something in the atmosphere shifts.

The reason it feels heavier than so many other tragedies is because your spirit recognizes that this is not just about a man, it is about a battle. Scripture says eternity is written on our hearts, and when someone who carried truth with boldness is suddenly gone, eternity aches within us. It’s like our souls know instinctively that the darkness celebrated, and that strikes us at the core.

The reason you can’t shake it is because psychologically, we don’t only attach ourselves to people…we attach ourselves to symbols. Charlie became a symbol of conviction in a time of compromise, courage in a time of fear. And when a symbol is struck down, it rattles something primal and eternal inside us.

That’s why even those who never met him feel it. There is a strange thread pulling at us, and it is not imagined. It is real. We are bound together by shared purpose, by shared longing for truth, by the Spirit of God Himself weaving us into a fabric that cannot be torn apart. This loss pulled at that fabric, and every one of us felt the tug.

So if you’ve wondered why this hits so hard, it’s because your soul knows. This is bigger than news. This is bigger than politics. This is about eternity, about truth, and about the weight of a man whose life carried both.

Answering the question of why this happened, he called to remember the new martyrs and confessors of the 20th century, whose blood became the seed of the current spiritual revival:

“There were martyrs who died in the post-revolutionary years, and there were those who lost the opportunity to make a career or any benefits at all if they were Orthodox. If you put all this together, indeed, even those who did not go through terrible sufferings and martyrdom were largely persecuted. Even confessing faith in the Lord and attending church at that time, especially if a person had any status in society, was already a great feat.

Looking at the thousands-strong procession, I remembered all this. I remembered my grandfather, a confessor who endured forty-seven prisons and seven exiles. I remembered my father, who was arrested on the eve of his wedding and sent to Kolyma. I remembered many of his comrades who went through the same paths.”

Today we live in a completely different country, and this must be appreciated.
