ERBIL – Kurdish-language schools are set to open in Norway with
support from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, aiming to preserve language and cultural identity among the diaspora.
The first school will offer Sorani and Kurmanji instruction across four classes, each with up to 17 students, with teaching led by volunteers. Educational materials will be provided by the KRG’s Ministry of Education.
The initiative follows a March 2025 agreement to expand Kurdish education abroad, with more schools planned across Norway.
