Abu Qatadah Al-Ansari (RAA) narrated, ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah (the 9th of the month of Dhul Hijjah). He replied, "Fasting on the day of Arafah is an expiation for the preceding year and the following year.” He was also asked about fasting on the day of Ashura (the 10th of the month of Muharram). He replied, “Fasting on the day of Ashura is an expiation for the preceding year.” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was also asked about fasting on Monday, and he replied, "This is the day on which I was born and the day on which I was sent (with the Message of Islam) and the day on which I received revelation." Related by Muslim.

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The best supplication is that which is made on the day of Arafat. The best of it is what was said by myself and the Prophets before me, ‘There is no God but Allah alone, without any partners, unto Him belongs the dominion and all praise, and He has power over all things.’

When the Body Cannot Reach the Ka'bah, Let the Heart Journey to the Lord of the Ka'bah

Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali رحمه الله said:

من فاته في هذا العام القيام بعرفة فليقم لله بحقه الذي عرفه.
Whoever missed standing at ‘Arafah this year, then let him stand before Allah by fulfilling the rights that he has come to know of Him.

Whoever was unable to spend the night at Muzdalifah, then let him spend his night firmly resolved upon obedience to Allah, for Allah has brought him near and drawn him close.

Whoever could not stand on the outskirts of al-Khayf, then let him stand before Allah with true hope and fear.

Whoever was unable to slaughter his sacrificial animal at Mina, then let him slaughter his desires here, for by doing so, he will have attained the true objective.

Whoever could not reach the House because of distance, then let him turn to the Lord of the House, for He is nearer to the one who calls upon Him and places hope in Him than his jugular vein.

Behold! You are those who are called to spend in the Cause of Allah, yet among you are some who are niggardly. And whoever is niggardly, it is only at the expense of his ownself. But Allah is Rich (Free of all wants), and you (mankind) are poor. And if you turn away (from Islam and the obedience of Allah), He will exchange you for some other people, and they will not be your likes.

💬 "Some individuals may remember Allah yet their eyes do not shed tears, recite the Qur'ān without experiencing humility, and listen to religious admonitions without being moved in the slightest. Envy Is A Burning Coal

The Noble Scholar Ibn Uthaymeen [رحمه الله] said:

‎«الحسدُ جمرةٌ في القلب والعياذ بالله، كلَّما أنعم الله على عبده نعمة احترق هذا القلب والعياذ بالله حيث أنعم الله تعالى على عباده، فتجدهُ دائماً في نكد ودائماً في قلق.»

❝Envy is a burning coal in the heart and Allaah's refuge is sought. Everytime Allaah bestows a blessing upon His worshipper this heart becomes inflamed and Allaah's refuge is sought because Allaah the Most-High bestows a blessing upon His worshippers, so you find the envious person always miserable and with worry.❞

[Sharh Riyadh As-Saliheen, (6/249)

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah said:

“Sin is never devoid of a punishment. However, due to the servant’s ignorance, he may not perceive the punishment he is experiencing, for he is like the drunk person, the intoxicated person, or the sleeping person who does not feel pain. When he awakens and regains consciousness, he feels the pain. The relationship between sins and their punishments is like that between fire and burning, poison and its harmful effects, and diseases and their consequences.”

The quote is from the book The Disease and the Cure.

Abu Hassan reported: I said to Abu Huraira, “I have two sons who died. Can you tell us something from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to cheer up our souls after their death?” Abu Huraira said, “Yes, the Prophet said: Their young are roaming about in Paradise.”
