Wang's petition garnered support from pro-CCP community leaders in multiple cities, who actively promoted the petition. They even collaborated with pro-China senators, renting buses to mobilize crowds to Ottawa for the petition, conflating the foreign interference registry with references to the Chinese Exclusion Act from a century ago. Although Wang's petition appeared to have momentum, it ultimately received only 2,450 signatures. In contrast, another petition initiated by a group opposing CCP interference in Canada, supporting the establishment of a foreign interference registry, had 5,215 participants, twice as many as those opposing it.
In July 2024, Wang and Pak released a report denying China interference in Canadian elections and democratic process.
On August 6, Wang and Pak held a press conference to promote a concert they organized to raise public awareness about the elections in British Columbia, inviting major political parties and candidates from the Greater Vancouver area to participate and promote their platforms during the event. The press conference also featured Senator Woo, who was slated to speak about the impact of foreign interference and its relevance to the Chinese community's participation in elections.
It is evident that Wang and Pak are merely recycling their previous tactics, using the provincial election to promote their narrative: that China has not interfered in Canadian elections and democratic process, while advancing the CCP's claim that discussions about Chinese interference harm Chinese Canadians by leading to discrimination and questions regarding their loyalty.
Since laws and actions related to foreign interference fall under federal jurisdiction, it remains to be seen whether various political parties and candidates in British Columbia will allow themselves to be used by Wang and Pak to oppose the federal government's discussions and efforts to combat foreign interference.
Moreover, we call on the provincial and municipal governments of British Columbia to review why they allow extreme right-wing advocates—who promote hatred against refugees, Muslims, and LGBTQ+ individuals, and who support the denial of the Uyghur genocide—to continuously spread the CCP's narratives, and to promote political agendas denying foreign interference, oppose government measures to establish anti-interference policies, under the guise of community cultural activities.
As for whether the Chinese government will intervene in the upcoming British Columbia elections as it did in the 2021 federal election and the 2022 Vancouver municipal election—led by ambassador, consuls general, and state media—we must remain vigilant.

Chinese Canadian Concern Group on the Chinese Communist Party’s Human Rights Violations :
Letter to BC Premier, BC Political Party Leaders, Richmond Mayor and Councillors
To BC Premier, BC Political Party Leaders, and Richmond Mayor and Councillors,
We are writing to bring to your attention our concerns regarding the Stop Anti-Asian Hate Crime Advocacy Group and the Chinese Canadians Goto Vote Association, including their masterminds and political agenda.
Attached is our recent submission to the Foreign Interference Commission, as our group has been selected to participate in the public inquiry.
We are concerned that public funds have been allocated to these groups and individuals, who have a history of attacking refugees, as well as Muslim and LGBTQ+ communities. In addition, they appear to be using anti-racism, election, and cultural event to promote the CCP's political agenda.
As indicated in the group's August 2 media invitation (attached) and the link to the Sing Tao and Fairchild Radio news story, Ally Wang, Ivan Pak, and their groups are using the BC election and cultural event to oppose Bill C-70 and the Foreign Interference Commission’s work. In their August 6 press conference announcing their "Concert in the Park" with the aim to “raise public awareness of the BC provincial elections”, the message they delivered to the press was about their opposition to Bill C-70 and the establishment of the foreign influence registry.
We do not believe that PRC advocates and their groups should receive public funding, and we urge political parties and their candidates to distance themselves from these activities.
Regards,
Chinese Canadian Concern Group on the Chinese Communist Party’s Human Rights Violations
