FSSAI Cracks Down on Misleading Pan Masala Ads
• FSSAI is actively monitoring and examining misleading and surrogate advertisements for pan masala.
• Strict regulations are in place under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Act 2006.
• Advertising and claims are governed by regulations effective since July 1, 2019.
• Surrogate and misleading advertisements for prohibited items are strictly restricted.
• Initial penalties for violations can reach up to ₹10 lakh.
