A varnish-removal system (VRS) cleans lubricating oil and hydraulic-oil systems by removing lacquer, sludge, and tar. It absorbs these chemical contaminants (both dissolved and suspended), which cause degradation of oil. It uses special filter media that is "oxidatively-stable" and designed to remove ONLY the varnish-causing contaminants without disrupting the fluid's additives.

Available in single- OR multiple-housing configurations & accepts various types of filter elements/cartridges:

• Ion-Exchange filter elements *
• Depth-media (for suspended varnish)
• Granular adsorbent-media (for dissolved varnish)
• Acid-removal (fuller's Earth, activated alumina, Selexorb)


Other CUSTOM options available:

• Skid-mounted with casters
• Explosion-proof (NEMA 4 / NEMA 7)
• Electrical systems: 110 - 580 VAC, 1-phase or 3-phase


* Our standard ion-exchange filter elements measure ~ 18cm Ø x 80cm L (7"Ø x 32"L), and do not require any special lifting mechanism. One person can easily remove and install a new element.
Got contamination? Here are the 3 simple steps to consistently achieve fluid quality goals:

1⃣ ANALYZE

In order to get the most accurate snapshot of fluid cleanliness, you have to know the FULL spectrum of particulate contaminants, and the industry standard reference for that is ISO 4406:1099.

Instead of bottle sampling, we recommend that you directly connect a particle counter to the system through sampling ports.

You could also use a patch-test kit, a great complementary tool that let's you visually analyze contamination levels and types in the system's fluid.


2⃣ Implement a FILTRATION system

Have you determined your current fluid quality? Next you should implement a filtration system, such as:

• Wall-mounted filter panel system
• Drum-top filter unit
• Mobile filter cart


3⃣ Establish a fluid-quality PROGRAM

A preventive-maintenance program will prolong the life of your machinery's ctitical components.

We recently received a request from a power generation plant in the south. My contact, the head reliability engineer, was enquiring about an oil mist eliminator, along with our on-site I&C service.

If you work in power generation, or with lubricants or hydraulic fluid, check this oil dehydrator, used to remove both water and particulate contamination.

This system is suitable for use in hazardous environments (Class 1, Division 2, Groups B, C, and D). It accepts high-efficiency micro-glass filter elements rated at Beta(c)>1000, per ISO 16889, and as such it removes free, dissolved, and emulsified water from various types of lube, hydraulic, and gear oils, down to as low as 20 PPM.

Do you work with any fuels? Have you ever seen one of these? This is a "coalescer-separator" filter vessel, in both vertical and horizontal orientations. These are the primary defense against water contamination in fuels, especially aviation fuels. They dehydrate fuel via a two-stage process of coalescing and separating, hence the name.

Stage 1: Coalescence. The fuel flows inside->out through coalescing cartridges, which force small water droplets to commingle and grow into heavier, larger drops that then fall by gravitational force into the sump area at the bottom.

Stage 2: Separation. The fuel flows outside->in through separator cartridges. These separator cartridges strip any remaining water droplets from the fuel, allowing only dry fuel to exit the system.

All housings are available with a wide selection of cartridges to meet your specific application needs, designed for easy servicing and low maintenance, built to ASME Code, Section VIII. Many options available to facilitate piping and connections. 👍
