Ferrari's high drag made passing Perez hard for Leclerc and Sainz, despite fresh tyresβ οΈ Top Speeds in Quali: 337km/h PERπ 330km/h LEC/SAIπ DRS + Slipstream gave a top speed advantage of just 16km/h for LEC and 15km/h for SAI. Fortunately, drag won't beβ¦
For context, PER had a 24km/h top speed advantage when overtaking the Haas on L40, and a 28km/h adv. overtaking TSU on L42.
Over 1.5 times that of both Ferrari cars! (And when overtaking TSU almost twice that of SAI).
Ferrari's drag was in part due to their more loaded rear wing.

Who was fastest at the speed trap?
(Qualifying laps, NO DRS)
π₯βͺοΈHaas! (low-drag wing)
π₯π‘RedBull had very low drag too.
π₯π As seen in Miami, the updates seem to have solved McLarenβs high drag.
π΄Ferrari didnβt shine, but Mercedes/Alpine/Aston were far worse.

In the last 20 laps, π Norris recovered the gap that π΅VER gave him in the first 20.
His McL was much more competitive on Hards than Mediums.
Even though NOR pitted one lap sooner and mounted a used set, he gained more and more as the stint progressed (until he was ~1.5s behind).

π‘π΄Leclerc is the clear favourite for pole (crucial for winning the Monaco GP).
Quickest in all sectors:
S1: -0.20s vs HAM
S2: -0.15s vs ALO
S3: -0.09s vs HAM
His FP2 was 0.087s already quicker than last year's pole. His 'Ideal Lap' was 0.361s faster than that!
π’HAM is looking good, too!
β οΈπ‘VER is struggling with setup, again (he complained that he was 'jumping like a kangaroo'): this is becoming a pattern.

TOP SPEEDS FP2 Monaco GP: RedBull was WAY down on power in their quali simulations!π‘ Their top speed was lower than even the lowest one from FP1.π The engine deficit was worth ~0.3s vs Ferrari - yet, their setup struggles are realβ οΈ Aston, Merc, McL, andβ¦

The pole improved by over 1s, yetπ’Aston (hit by traffic) was SLOWER than last year!
Most improved team:π McL (over 1.8s/lap gained, P10β‘οΈ).
Good development byπ΄Ferrari andπ’Mercedes, shaving off ~1.2s from an already competitive laptime.
π‘RedBull improved 'just' 0.8s: not enough to keep pole.
