"Iβm having a walk in the original Temple of Speed! π Iβve measured the banking of the old Parabolica: ~40degrees at the highest point, 7deg more than the most banked corner in NASCAR! I struggled to reach the highest point by feet."

F2 Qualifying
Speed Trap (Vertical) vs Average Speed (Horizontal)
The dashed trend line shows that better average speedβοΈhigher top speed (Better aero efficiency and corner exit)
Two exceptions:β«οΈRodin and π Campos teams showed large wing load differences!

How does F1 compare to F2?
Speed Trap: ~ +40km/h (+14%)
Average Speed: ~ +35km/h (+16%)
Huge difference!
Their speed advantage over the whole lap seems to be analogous to their top-speed advantage
We can conclude that F1 cars gain a lot... everywhere
And Ollie now knows it!

RACE PACE - Australian GP
π΄Ferrari was quickest, and just 0.05s/lap separated SAI and LEC!
π Norris was just 0.11s/lap behind though: McL can take the jump if the updates work
π‘Perez was half a second behind (damaged floor on his 2nd stint, though)
π’ALO matched RUS
π£Alpine's pace was terrible once again: OCO was slower than BOT despite pitting one time more. GAS had the worst pace
The 'Race Pace' analysis script is the first one I've restored, as I know how much you love this analysis!ππ»

TOP SPEEDS - AUSTRALIAN GP π΄Sainz only used the DRS twice (to overtake VER!) π McL's drag was quite high: PIA only reached 330km/h despite using the DRS often, and NOR was at the bottom of the standings. Solid performance despite that PER (339km/h) and Haas:β¦

πTOP SPEEDS SO FAR (FP1)
βͺοΈHaas was unmatched (327km/h!): low-drag car + less loaded wingβ‘οΈmight go for slightly more load in the next sessions
π‘RBR had a loaded DRS plane, but an unloaded lower plane: this made their DRS very powerful
π McL's DRS doesn't perform well
Both Williams and Alpine DID use DRS during their respective best laps
ALB lifted early into T1, however
Alpine's top speed, instead, is concerning

πNotes on Japanese GP Quali!
