✨ In Telegram Beta for macOS 13.1.0 (283365), a new «Agent» feature has been discovered, which will allow users to connect third-party AI services using their own API keys. Five providers are currently supported: × OpenAI (ChatGPT) × Anthropic (Claude) ×…
✨ How connecting «Agents» will work.

Telegram will have a dedicated bot (or multiple bots) for Agents, featuring an «Add Your AI API Key» button. Tapping this button will open a special menu where you can enter your AI API key.

You will also be able to manage your API keys through the same Telegram bot.

Be careful when opening links.

A link with a pre-filled message is currently being shared in chats. When you open it, a random user's chat appears, and the prepared text is automatically inserted into the message field. If you try to send it, your account gets frozen.

The message contains pre-filled text that scammers use to send fake offers to users.

The link reportedly no longer works, but stay cautious.

A new «Feed» tab has been added to the navigation panel.

When opening a channel, you can now add it to your news feed instead of joining it. This means the channel will appear in your news feed, but you won't actually be subscribed to it.

To join the channel, you'll need to tap «Remove from News» or «Add to Chat».

India will soon require messaging apps WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal to function only when the registered SIM is active in the phone, the telecom ministry has said. According to the ministry, allowing these apps to run without a SIM lets scammers abroad misuse Indian phone numbers.

Researcher Bypassed Telegram’s Server-Side Sticker Verification for a Zero-Click iOS Hack — Meanwhile, the Messenger Replaced the Vulnerable Library

UPD 22:00 UTC. The researcher confirmed that Telegram has patched the flaw when migrated its clients to the tlottie library. Official clients users with latest updates installed are safe.

Cybersecurity specialist Saifeldeen Aziz announced a talk at the OffensiveCon conference — the researcher spent a year studying the security of Telegram stickers. Telegram very recently overhauled its sticker library, so without further details, it remains unclear whether the updates have fixed the announced vulnerabilities.

There is likely no direct threat to Telegram users on the latest versions of the official apps right now.

What exactly did the researchers find?

• Using AI-driven fuzzing, the cybersecurity team found several vulnerabilities in the rlottie library, which is responsible for rendering animated stickers. In Telegram for iOS, this makes it possible to execute code on the victim’s device.

• Telegram relies on server-side verification to filter out malicious files.

• The researcher discovered logic flaws in how stickers are delivered and verified, using them to bypass the security mechanisms.

• According to the author, even after receiving the reports, Telegram continues to rely on server-side checks, while the vulnerable rendering code remains in the official clients.

Telegram replaced its sticker library

While the research was underway, Telegram changed its approach. The messenger published tlottie — a new sticker rendering library vibe-ported to Rust. It is already used in Telegram Desktop, Telegram for macOS, and Telegram for Android; since September, it has also been used in Telegram for iOS.

The tlottie library eliminates an entire class of memory bugs that have been used for sticker-based attacks for years. In the view of @tginfo editors, by updating the library in client apps, the messenger’s team demonstrates that it does not rely solely on server-side checks in matters of security.

Are these findings still relevant?

• The presentation materials have not yet been published online. Which versions the exploit chain was tested on and the exact nature of the vulnerabilities will become known later.

• The research took a year, and the announcement specifically focuses on rlottie. Therefore, there is reason to doubt that the issue persists in the latest versions, although this still cannot be ruled out. Furthermore, logic flaws in sticker delivery and verification do not depend on the rendering library.

• Rust is no guarantee. There have been no independent audits or public analyses of tlottie yet, so the library will only be able to prove its quality over time.

A systemic problem

The history of sticker vulnerabilities goes back many years. Back in 2020, Shielder researchers discovered 13 bugs in rlottie that allowed for remote memory corruption on a device. At the time, Telegram only patched those specific errors.

Meanwhile, the company publicly denied the risks. In 2025, the exploit broker Operation Zero offered up to $4 million for zero-click exploits targeting the messenger, while a Telegram representative told Forbes that the messenger had “never been vulnerable to zero-click exploits”.

In March 2026, an entry regarding a vulnerability in Telegram stickers appeared in the Zero Day Initiative database. The messenger’s press service stated to Durov’s Code that “the existence of such an exploit is impossible” because all stickers are checked by servers. At the time, @tginfo editors pointed out that server-side validation is merely one layer of protection that can itself contain errors — a conclusion supported by the findings of the new research. In October, ZDI published the full details of the vulnerability, marking it as unpatched.

In their announcement, Saifeldeen Aziz questions Telegram’s approach to security and speculates that such vulnerabilities could be used to create backdoors.

In the view of @tginfo editors, the transition to tlottie is the first step in many years toward solving the underlying problem rather than applying another patch. Telegram often aggressively denies the possibility of any vulnerabilities or silences issues. @tginfo editors note that trust is built not by such declarations, but by openly acknowledging problems and allowing independent code verification.

😨 Most users are probably already aware of the new gift scam involving business bots.

You receive what looks like a gift offer in your private messages, but it appears as a regular message rather than an service message. Don't take any action or tap buttons sent to you by other users. A real gift offer is a service message and looks different.

In the latest stable update Telegram for iOS v13.1.1, this issue with fake offers has been largely addressed. Now, if someone sends you the first message through a business bot, the buttons won't appear immediately. You'll need to send any message to that user before the buttons become visible.

In previous versions, these buttons were always displayed.

✨ The «Agent» bot for connecting third-party AI services using your own API keys has already appeared on production server.

After connecting an AI provider, you'll be able to select a specific model, switch between connected providers, and configure the model's reasoning level — fast, medium, expert, or ultra.

You'll also be able to customize the AI's personality, enable or disable web search, view statistics on token usage and API request costs, and reset the conversation context.

The bot's description states that you'll be able to interact with AI in both private chats and groups. Note that you'll need an active subscription to the corresponding AI service to use the bot.

The bot is currently not available to all users. It is expected to become publicly available after future stable update.

🔎 Cybersecurity researcher Saifeldeen Aziz has announced a talk at OffensiveCon about the findings of his year-long research into the security of Telegram's animated stickers.

Using AI-assisted fuzz testing, he discovered several vulnerabilities in «rlottie», the library responsible for rendering animated stickers. These affected Telegram for iOS, Android, and Desktop.

The researcher also discovered logic flaws in Telegram's sticker delivery and server-side validation mechanisms. By chaining these vulnerabilities together, he was able to bypass Telegram's security protections and achieve zero-click code execution on iOS, without any user interaction.

However, Telegram had already started replacing «rlottie» with a new Rust-based library called «tlottie» back in late July 2026. It was first introduced on Android, followed by Unigram, then Telegram Desktop and macOS, and finally iOS in September.

The switch to Rust-based «tlottie» should reduce the risk of memory-safety vulnerabilities, but it does not rule out other security issues, including flaws in sticker delivery and server-side validation.

It is currently unknown whether the vulnerabilities discovered by the researcher still affect the latest versions of Telegram. The full technical details of the research have not yet been published, and the announced attack specifically targets the old «rlottie» library, which Telegram has already replaced in its clients.
