🐣 Today we launched a decentralized network for AI computations Cocoon ("Cocoon") — https://cocoon.org . It provides users with 100% confidentiality when interacting with AI. Some of the Telegram requests related to automatic message translation already go through this network.

Telegram announces its most epic Design Contest, where top prize winners will each secure $10,000 and may also get a chance to join the Telegram Design Team.

THE TASK

Design a concept for Telegram Nodes entirely from the ground up, while preserving the familiar components of Telegram’s interfaces. It must feel seamless and aesthetically compelling while remaining clear and intuitive for users.

Nodes act as separate instances within the app that help users organize and streamline their communication flows – from personal to work. Nodes go far beyond simple chat folders or groups with topics enabled.

You may think of them as Discord-like servers or Slack-style workspaces that can contain multiple chat types, including voice and video chats, support in-depth admin management and user roles.

Users who join Telegram Nodes can set a profile picture, bio, and name that differ from their main account. They can then switch between Nodes and their main Telegram inbox – for example, via the left-side menu, which lists all their Nodes alongside any other Telegram accounts they’re logged into.

Your submissions must include:
1. A complete set of mockups for both the Android and iOS versions of the Telegram app.
2. A demo video for either platform in the same manner as the demonstrations from the Telegram Blog.

CORE REQUIREMENTS

• Clarity and usefulness are mandatory – everything must feel immediately understandable to users, leaving no room for confusion.
• Thoughtful feature engineering – the design should reflect an implementation-ready concept.
• All sides must be considered – you must deliver both the user and admin flows.
• A well-thought entry point and clear Nodes management are essential.
• Support for both day and night themes is mandatory.

Submission Format:

1) The layouts can be implemented as static .png files. For the animation demos, use .mp4 format (without sound).
Source files and properly structured Figma projects are also welcome.
2) For included videos, you must also provide several static .png images from each video that serve as a storyboard.
3) If you use complex animated icons, they must be in lottie json or .tgs format.

Further submission instructions will be announced closer to the deadline.

THE TASK

🎁 – create unique vector-based appearances of the following Collectible Gift. To get a better idea of Gift Collections and their different models, you may browse the existing sets in Settings → Send Gift → Collectibles.

Proceed with either:

Option A
Prepare vector artwork and animate it using Adobe After Effects. Submit each gift model as an .aep file. You will find a reference file attached below this message.

Option B
Prepare static vector artwork with Adobe Illustrator. Submit each gift model as an .ai file.

We will reward you with up to $500 for each gift model you create. You may submit as many as you like, provided their quality and visual appeal match or exceed those of our existing gifts.

Submission Guidelines:

You must submit your models as .tgs + .aep files for animated and .png + .ai files for static artwork respectively. You may additionally place your models into a single sticker pack.

Telegram is hosting a contest for iOS developers to bring Liquid Glass effects to older versions of iOS.

THE TASK

Implement custom versions of some of the Liquid Glass effects and the relevant interface flows into Telegram for iOS so these appearances work on iOS 18 and older.

You must precisely replicate the animations and look and feel (highlight on tap, scale-up, bounce, and stretching) on the glass elements. This applies in particular to:

– The tab bar
Omit background blur behind the bar itself, while preserving the glass lenses’ ability to blur the bar’s own content.

– Buttons
This includes attach menu icon, voice and video message recording buttons, etc.

– Switches and sliders
Only the moving element itself should apply blur.

Contest Requirements:

– Support for iOS 18 is mandatory.
– No third-party UI frameworks or new dependencies are allowed.
– The submission must be consistent with the existing Telegram for iOS codebase. You may reuse what is already included in the app's codebase.
– Changes must not negatively affect performance, memory usage, or app stability.

Evaluation:
During the evaluation stage, submissions will be tested on a broad range of devices and iOS versions (13-26). In addition to aesthetic accuracy and appeal, we will evaluate:
– Performance;
– Memory consumption;
– Battery impact.

Submissions:

We will announce detailed submission instructions closer to the deadline. The final submission must be your implementation integrated into Telegram for iOS, not a standalone demo app.

🇷🇺 The Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee of the Russian Federation (on information policy), Andrey Svintsov, stated that Telegram will not be blocked for now.

🎤 This was reported by the media outlet "Ostorozhno Media", which is run by Ksenia Sobchak. The politician responded that it is due to cooperation with local special services and law enforcement agencies, especially when it comes to American IT, where it «is used to analyze information both about industrial-commercial espionage and a certain cross-section of the state of our [Russian] society».

👮‍♂️ But Telegram, attention, actively «cooperates» with Roskomnadzor and the Russian authorities, so its blocking is not expected.

As for Telegram, I think that Telegram will not be blocked for now because the management of the Telegram company interacts with our law enforcement agencies, with Roskomnadzor. And here, I think, we can still use Telegram quite calmly for some considerable time.

🇷🇺 The Russian President shared his opinion on the influence of Telegram and its analogues on young people in an interview with India Today, according to the propaganda outlet TASS. In the interview, he urged people to talk face-to-face and connect with young people, as the problem of relationships between the younger and older generations has always existed and is reflected in literature and art, among other things.

Passkeys are working on the main server. 🔑 You can now enable Passkeys on the production server—the most secure way to log in to your Telegram account. To do this, go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Passkeys. 🔑 When adding a Passkey, you can select this device to save the Passkey to, or transfer it to another device (in which case you'll need to scan a QR code). Adding or logging in via this method requires biometrics, but deleting it is not necessary.

🛡 They are more secure than emails with codes because Passkeys are impossible to intercept. Passkeys are useful for those whose email accounts are blocked or who are unable to access their email service.

Additionally: ur cloud password still needs to be entered.

According to @tginfo, 🇷🇺 they were previously available primarily to Russians, as they had significant authorization issues. Passkey had to be added as an authorization method, as both SMS and email could be unavailable or blocked.

Telegram Desktop 6.3.6, but only on Windows 10/11 (it supports Windows Hello).

📰 Spam in user private messages has become more frequent. 🫡 This message is entirely in Chinese, and the screenshot claims that Chinese entrepreneurs are offering to rent energy for transfers on the TRON network without commission for just 0.01 TRX, while the usual transfer fee is around 20 TRX.
The spam was created via @postad, which allows you to bypass the restriction that hyperlinks (even usernames) no longer work in new chats from unknown contacts.

What should you do?
1. Restrict incoming messages, at least set them to "premium users only" or, better yet, pay for messages with stars.
2. If you receive a message, click "Block" at the top, set two checkboxes, and confirm the action.

Telegram promptly deletes these spam messages by freezing accounts, but the spammers don't give up – after appealing, they can recreate their accounts.

Kaspersky Lab tracked the life cycle of fraudulent communities on Telegram and found that they last an average of seven months. After that, they migrate en masse to decentralized messaging apps like Simple X. Securitylab.ru reports on this.

👮‍♂️ Experts point out that Telegram is inferior to dedicated, secure messaging apps in terms of privacy, where "paper plane" doesn't use end-to-end encryption in cloud chats, where these servers are centralized, adding that the server code is closed. Based on data from the aforementioned Russian lab, out of 800 blocked resources, the average lifespan in 2021-22 was five months, while in 2023-24, it was nine months. This doesn't mean the persecution has abated.

🏰 Cybercriminals were trying to survive longer on Telegram. For example, they switched to a private mode with requests, or published harmless messages to disguise themselves, or added disclaimers and statements about the legality of the content. None of this prevents blocks, as the option to report them remains, and Telegram has tightened its content moderation.

🛳 In 2025, the BFRepo group (9k+ subscribers) announced its move to SimpleX, and Angel Drainer decided to create its own messenger with support for crypto protocols, which they recommend Telegram users move to those who prioritize privacy. ☝️ And remember one thing: all this doesn't mean the number of cyberthreats will decrease—criminal communities are solving the problem, where Telegram is emerging from the period when it was a mainstay for cybercriminals.
