#tip: 📰 Quoting is always better than just replying.
↩️ Update 10.2 with "Replies 2.0" brought quoting excerpts of texts, which made it very convenient to respond to certain words. But there are those moments that make it worth using it rather than just swiping a message to reply.
1. Quoting always preserves the context of the reply message. Few people know, but unlike simple replies to messages, the text you quoted will always be saved in your messages in reply blocks, even if some characters and words change in the replied messages. This, for example, helps a lot in controversial discussions, which your opponents can substitute for the context in the reply tray by simply editing messages. Please note that if you have highlighted a specific piece of text, and something has already changed in this message, an error will occur when sending it.
There are also some android clients who, even with a simple swipe on a message, always capture the entire text of the selected message for quoting. It is very convenient and practical.
2. As a rule, in the quoted blocks, instead of just answers, there is more area. This helps, for example, if other users did not have to click and go to distant messages, it is very useful if distant messages do not load after clicking on the quotes block. In regular replies to messages, there is always a small reply block, let alone a quote. You can also click on the quote block once to expand it, and the second time to go to the replied message.

Well, that’s right. I was also surprised when I tried to quote but the feature wasn’t there. I just realized that my automatic message translator was on, meaning the option isn’t available when the automatic translation feature is active.

However, I actually found an alternative way to quote when the automatic translation feature is active. You have to reply to the message as usual and then select the quote option.

That’s not the right way. I mean, just swipe the message as usual to reply, and there should be an option to pick the sentence you want to quote.

Look. You can expand the reply block with a quote if it was a reply to a message from another chat (like this one), and if it's a mobile app.. And the lines in the reply block with the quote are limited to 5.

Telegram’s New Interface Is Inaccessible to Users with Visual Impairments
Following the release of Telegram’s newly redesigned mobile apps, users with visual impairments have found themselves at a significant disadvantage. According to user reports, the elements in the app’s bottom navigation bar are no longer identifiable by screen readers such as VoiceOver. The buttons in the bottom panel cannot be detected by screen-reading software, and many interface controls no longer receive accessibility focus.
This is not the first time Telegram has faced accessibility issues. Between 2020 and 2023, blind users repeatedly reported numerous bugs — including being unable to scroll through the chat list, access message reactions, or use unlabeled buttons in the settings menu.

Log in to Telegram via Passkeys Without Codes or Phone Numbers
In the future, Telegram plans to introduce authentication via Passkeys. The first signs of this feature have appeared in the Beta version of Telegram for Android 12.2.8.
The key advantage of Passkeys is the ability to log into your account without entering a phone number or a one-time code. This distinguishes it from logging in via email or Google / Apple ID, which serve merely as alternatives to receiving an SMS code.
A “log in using passkey” button has appeared on the app's login screen. Tapping it launches your password manager, which verifies your identity using Face ID, fingerprint, or your screen lock PIN. From it, the messenger receives your signature, which functions as your login, password, and one-time confirmation code all simultaneously.
Much like email login, this new feature will need to be pre-configured in Telegram’s security settings. The key will be saved on the phone where it was created, but it can be synced with other devices via Google Password Manager, iCloud Passwords, or other applications.
Why is this important?
• Reduced reliance on SMS: This makes logging in possible even if you don’t have active sessions and your mobile operator is blocking SMS messages from Telegram.
• Security: The Passkey is stored in a secure enclave of your password manager—it cannot be intercepted or entered on a phishing site.
• Speed: Login is performed with a single touch via biometrics (face or fingerprint). When you switch phones, the Passkey automatically syncs via your password manager using your Google account or Apple ID.
The feature is currently under development and is not yet fully functional. Stay tuned for news about Telegram Beta versions on our Beta Info channel.

#tip: 📰 For those who want to create cards on the site, use the following links:
• Suggest a feature — https://bugs.telegram.org/c/new/suggestion
• Report a bug — https://bugs.telegram.org/c/new/issue
🧐 It’s strange that the developers didn’t add these buttons. Possibly, prevention of abuse of the site.
UPD: there are buttons, but first you need to find something in search.

Telegram tends to simply add new features without sustaining them for the sake of being the "most feature-rich" app, which is why even visually impaired users suffer.
Telegram has also added TalkBack, its Android counterpart. Are there any issues with it as well? This remains an open question.

India Mandates SIM Binding for WhatsApp, Telegram
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has ordered #WhatsApp, #Telegram, Signal, Snapchat and other messaging apps to enforce mandatory SIM binding within 90 days.Users will no longer be able to use these apps without the registered Indian SIM physically inserted and active in the device — even on Wi-Fi. Web versions must log out every 6 hours and require fresh QR-code verification. The rule, issued under the Telecom Cyber Security Rules 2024, aims to curb cyber fraud by preventing criminals from using Indian numbers without the actual SIM. Prize fund: $50,000 or more
Deadline: 23:59 Dubai time @ December 15, 2025
Who can participate: Everyone
THE TASK
Design a concept for Telegram Nodes entirely from the ground up, while preserving the familiar components of Telegram’s interfaces. It must feel seamless and aesthetically compelling while remaining clear and intuitive for users.
Nodes act as separate instances within the app that help users organize and streamline their communication flows – from personal to work. Nodes go far beyond simple chat folders or groups with topics enabled.
You may think of them as Discord-like servers or Slack-style workspaces that can contain multiple chat types, including voice and video chats, support in-depth admin management and user roles.
Users who join Telegram Nodes can set a profile picture, bio, and name that differ from their main account. They can then switch between Nodes and their main Telegram inbox – for example, via the left-side menu, which lists all their Nodes alongside any other Telegram accounts they’re logged into.
Your submissions must include:
1. A complete set of mockups for both the Android and iOS versions of the Telegram app.
2. A demo video for either platform in the same manner as the demonstrations from the Telegram Blog.
CORE REQUIREMENTS
• Clarity and usefulness are mandatory – everything must feel immediately understandable to users, leaving no room for confusion.
• Thoughtful feature engineering – the design should reflect an implementation-ready concept.
• All sides must be considered – you must deliver both the user and admin flows.
• A well-thought entry point and clear Nodes management are essential.
• Support for both day and night themes is mandatory.
Submission Format:
1) The layouts can be implemented as static .png files. For the animation demos, use .mp4 format (without sound).
Source files and properly structured Figma projects are also welcome.
2) For included videos, you must also provide several static .png images from each video that serve as a storyboard.
3) If you use complex animated icons, they must be in lottie json or .tgs format.
Further submission instructions will be announced closer to the deadline.
