The verified bot @donate now supports paid messages. Payments are made through Smart Glocal Payments. The funds will be transferred to the author of the content.
The function supports photos and videos. Before the purchase, the user sees only the outline of the media and the amount of payment. After the purchase, the user will be able to view the content.
Here you can find an example implementation. The function is currently under testing.

As promised, we've launched the ability to buy Telegram usernames on a dedicated platform β Fragment. Auctions for the most valuable usernames are already live, so make sure to check it out. In a few days, we will also introduce the ability for users to sell their existing usernames on Fragment.
For the first time in the history of social media, a fair, transparent market for usernames is established. Finally people will have ownership over their social media addresses, secured in the immutable ledger of a decentralized blockchain network.
This is just the beginning, and yet an important milestone β the power has started to shift into users' hands.

Viber blocks clicks on Telegram links
Users noticed that the mobile app stopped highlighting t.me links in messages, thus preventing them from being clicked. The reasons for Viber's actions are unknown.
tginfoen.t.me, tx.me/tginfoen, and telegram.me/tginfoen links continue to work.
Viber messenger is especially popular in Ukraine and Belarus and is Telegram's main competitor in these regions.
For context, in the past Instagram blocked t.me links in profile bios, while Twitter used to consider articles posted on telegra.ph as spam.

Some content creators started using third-party payment bots to sell access to individual posts. This way, content creators could receive close to 100% of whatever their subscribers paid, which was great.
Unfortunately, we received word from Apple that they were not happy with content creators monetizing their efforts without paying a 30% tax to Apple. Since Apple has complete control over its ecosystem, we had no alternative but to disable such paid posts on iOS devices.
This is just another example of how a trillion-dollar monopoly abuses its market dominance at the expense of millions of users who are trying to monetize their own content. I hope that the regulators in the EU, India and elsewhere start taking action before Apple destroys more dreams and crushes more entrepreneurs with a tax that is higher than any government-levied VAT.
In the meantime, we at Telegram shall work to offer creators powerful and easy-to-use tools to monetize their content β outside of Apple's restrictive ecosystem.

Telegram revokes fraudulent gifted Premium subscriptions
Users who fraudulently bought Premium subscriptions from third-party vendors have started receiving notifications from Telegram's service account stating that their subscriptions have been canceled.
Legal subscriptions that were purchased or received as gift will remain valid.
Earlier, users discovered a vulnerability in Telegram, which allowed them to give out Premium for free to other users by various methods (from Jailbreak on an iOS device to a single purchase via Apple Gift Card, including some steps in between), thus abusing the "hole" in the messenger. The financial damage to the messenger due to the lack of money received for subscriptions could be estimated at hundreds of thousands, or even millions of US dollars.
The Telegram team reminds: If you want to purchase a genuine Telegram Premium subscription, you must use the verified @PremiumBot or other official payment methods. Otherwise, as this situation shows, you may pay not only for the subscription, but also for your money (which scammers are unlikely to reimburse).

While this channel has been a little quiet for the last three months, the app continued to evolve.
π Today, WebK introduces a redesigned Emoji and Sticker Panel β try the collapsible section for default emoji categories and the scrollable bar for your custom emoji sets.
The new Panel features a beautiful blur effect on most desktop browsers and allows you to send or edit messages containing custom emoji. (All users can try out this feature in their Saved Messages). Copy and paste are also available.
In the Stickers tab, you can now add or remove stickers from favorites, send without sound or individually delete them from the Recents section.
π Preview Stickers and Emoji
You can now get a closer look at stickers and emoji, both in the panel and in chats. Click and hold, then hover your cursor over the one you'd like to see in better detail.
Stickers are now rendered more efficiently, using fewer resources and saving battery. Custom Emoji have also had more improvements since their launch in late August.
β‘οΈ Downloading Files
The download flow has been reworked from scratch. When you download something, the app uses your connection in the most efficient way possible. Premium users will notice how dramatically fast the app downloads files for them β a little demo is available here.
Large files of up to 4 GB are now supported for both upload and download. There is also support for native downloading in certain browsers β your browser will place active downloads on the instrument bar.
πΈ Payments 2.0
Significant optimizations were added to smoothly process payments in any browser, and adding familiar functionality from other Telegram apps. Bot payments, @donate invoices and more are supported β including the ability to subscribe to Telegram Premium with @PremiumBot.
Dozens of bug fixes were also made to the app β but those can be a bit boring to read. If you ever come across a bug in the app, make sure to let us know on the Bugs and Suggestions Platform.

I feel particularly excited about todayβs Telegram update. It adds topics to large groups, transforming these linear chats into slick mobile-friendly versions of good old Internet Forums.
Ironically, the very first popular internet service I built around 20 years ago was also an Internet Forum β a message board for students of my university, which eventually grew into the biggest student portal in the region.
16 years ago I again incorporated forums into the Communities section of VK, a social network I founded. Since VK was the most popular communication platform in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other countries, tens of millions of people used the forum feature there.
I feel nostalgic about those times: I had yet to learn the skill of hiring engineers and designers back then, so I programmed and designed everything on my own, working 20 hours per day.
Today I am fortunate to have the best coding team in the world to recreate the forum experience for hundreds of millions across all platforms in a more modern, fast and accessible form. Telegram will now support organized conversations where thousands of people can concurrently discuss different subjects in the same group.
Topics today come packed with lots of features β including the ability to close and pin topics, flexible notification options and lots of fun animated emoji to be used as topic icons. But this is just the start. Taking advantage of the two-week delay caused by Appleβs review, we have begun to expand these new threaded groups into something even more powerful.

Telegram source code for macOS was updated
After 6 months of delay, Telegram has updated the source code of the macOS app on GitHub.
Previously, we compared which Telegram clients publish their source code on time and which have some delay. It is important to remember that timely source code releases give the community the opportunity to participate in the development of the messenger, and third-party developers to create modifications and audit code.

πΈ Topics' options are mute/unmute, pin, view info, close/reopen and delete (as per permissions given)
πΈ Only one Topic could be Pinned in a group
πΈ Within Topics, you can reply to any message, but reply indicator and View Replies are missed
πΈ When forwarding a message to Group (with Topics enabled), it asks for Topic also
πΈ If a topic is closed, it can be opened but members can't send messages.
πΈ If a topic is deleted, its messages are seen in 'View as messages' but topic name will be shown as 'Deleted'
πΈ If 'Topics' option is disabled by owner, all Topics' messages are seen in 'View as messages', group will be reverted to previous stage
πΈ Again if 'Topics' are reenabled, group view will be changed to Topics view
πΈ Topics will inherit admins, settings and permissions from the parent group
πΈ Old messages (before creating Topics) can't be moved to Topics. Messages within Topics also can't be moved across Topics
πΈ When a topic is created, system message "Topic created" appears, which can't be deleted. Other system messages of this feature can be deleted
πΈ Topic link can also be copied (for sharing purpose) from Topic profile
πΈ Members can view previous messages (before creating Topics) and all topic(s)' messages in one thread by changing the option 'View as messages' in 3 dot menu. Previous messages can be viewed in this way only. Again from 3 dot menu you can switch to 'View topics'
πΈ In one thread view, all Topics' posts are shown as reply to some other message (means all threads are shown at one place), you can reach upward in thread 1 by 1, the first message in the thread shows Topic name as Header, clicking on this header (Topic name) moves to the system message 'Topic created' (the message that could not be deleted)
πΈ You can't edit or reply to previous messages (before creating Topics), but can be deleted
πΈ Group joined and left messages could be seen in 'View as messages' view
πΈ Feature has some Bugs. More features and changes are needed. Hopefully Telegram will release updated version soon
Best Practices:
πΈ If using topics in a group, make a topic 'Group Rules', close it, Pin it, post group rules/information etc.
πΈ Similar group(s) can be created for admin talking/discussion
πΈ Implement the feature if you want to break a chat group having multiple subjects with thousands of messages daily and you need same admins, settings & permissions across topics
πΈ Well plan/create topics in the beginning (while starting group or while starting the feature), so that you don't have to think/regret later
πΈ Don't create too many topics in a group

πΈ Feature is for Telegram groups (Pvt. and Public)
πΈ It's like sub-groups within a Group, or like forum threads. It breaks the main chat in topics
πΈ Topics can be created only if group members are 200 or more
πΈ Topics can't be used if group is linked to a channel. Similarly if you try to link group (with Topics enabled) to a channel, error comes.
πΈ Only group owners can turn on/off this feature
πΈ Owner can give 'Manage topics' permission to other Admins. The permission appears in admin rights; if 'Topics' is enabled and after reopening settings
πΈ Permission to create Topics can also be given to group members in group 'Permissions' section
πΈ After enabling Topics; group view will be changed to Topics view, previous timeline will be hidden, tap one of the Topic(s) to send messages
πΈ Admin can change topic title and topic icon anytime
πΈ You can use a few animated emoji as Topic icon (even if you are not Premium user)
πΈ Only animated emoji could be set as topic icon, no option for static emoji and picture/video

Selling usernames at the Fragment auction
It has become possible to sell any username in Telegram through an auction on the Fragment site.
To sell, you will need to log in using your Telegram account and link your TON wallet. Next, you place the first bid, from which the auction will start. The minimum bet is 10 TON.
On the Fragment website, there is a "My usernames" button in your account. The "Non-Collectible Usernames" section displays all your usernames - your account, your groups and channels.
When someone places a large bid, you will be refunded the amount of the original bid. However, if there are no more bets, you will get your bet back minus a commission of 5% and 5 TON.
In the event that someone outbids you, you will receive 95% of the highest bid plus your original bid.
It is forbidden to sell blocked usernames at the auction.

The results of the competition for the development of options in Telegram X for Android have been announced
The objective of the October contest was to implement in Telegram X comments, threads, the "Send as..." button and improved search (optional) identical to the attached demo materials.
Despite the strong recommendation of the organizers to focus on the implementation of one feature to achieve the highest quality, some contestants tried themselves in the development of two or three options at once.
When testing submitted submissions and evaluating the code of entries, the judges focused on the following criteria: code consistency, overall app stability, and how closely the submitted design was followed.
Detailed information about the winners, their awards and works can be viewed on the official channel of the Telegram contests.
