With source code made open, the $25,000 contest was held. This update includes the winner's work, which introduces reactions.
Improved notification reliability
Update comes with internal notifications reliability improvements and makes previously invisible errors clear to users when such problems occur.
Other Changes
• Rendering of messages with custom emoji in all places of the app
• Preview of video stickers and animated emoji in notifications
• Improved performance while typing a message — noticeable on low-end devices
• 60 FPS playback of Animated Stickers
• Improved playback of GIFs & Animated Stickers on screens with dynamic refresh rate
• Better text length limit check in all places of the app, which allows using more symbols in bios and text messages in certain languages
• Fully reworked service messages that support custom emoji, spoilers and follow the Settings — Themes and Chats — Text Size setting

The task is to create a standalone media editing app in Swift without using third-party UI frameworks. Submissions must include a variety of tools to add drawings and edit text based on the provided mockups.
Details:

Contest Requirements:
• No third-party UI frameworks are allowed.
• Your app should be compatible with iOS 13 and above.
• The contest features and interfaces must be built from scratch. Using third-party implementations of media editors with similar features is strictly prohibited. Such entries will be disqualified.
Prize fund for Round 1: $50,000
Deadline: 23:59 on October 31th (Dubai time)
Results: November 10th, 2022

Messages on behalf of channels with Premium subscription
Users have reported that accounts without an active Premium subscription can no more comment on channel posts or send messages in groups on behalf of a channel.
A close source to the Telegram development team talks about that decision this way:
“Since the introduction of this feature, it has been difficult to assess the scale of the scams made.
80% of the comments made and messages sent on behalf of channels were identified as spam. Previously, channel and group administrators suggested removing this feature entirely, but instead of that, we have limited it to those who have an active Premium subscription. Hopefully, this will reduce the spam operations that take advantage of this feature, without having to entirely drop the feature.”

Telegram is preparing to sell usernames on an auction
The Daily TON noticed “Telegram usernames” collection on “Getgems” TON NFT platform.
For now, the usernames are not available for purchase, but The Daily TON noticed some evidence that allows us to speculate that these NFT collections are actually published by the Telegram team.
Earlier this year Telegram revoked a huge part of usernames from “inactive” channels, after which Pavel Durov announced “Web 3.0” integration in the messenger and promised to release revoked usernames on an auction. To justify own actions, Telegram launched username.t.me links.

An official Telegram channel announced the end of the development phase of the platform for buying and selling unique and recognizable usernames, which Pavel Durov spoke about earlier.
