Using email in Telegram

Telegram has updated its Privacy Policy, adding information about using an email address as an alternative authorization method.

Here are the main points:

— Since September 2022, Telegram may ask some users to specify their email address.
— Users will be able to receive login codes by email instead of SMS (with the possibility of authorization via Google or Apple).
— The email address for authorization will be stored separately from the email required to recover the two-step authentication password, and will also be used only to send you confirmation codes when logging into your account.
— The email address for logging in to the profile will be stored by Telegram until it is changed or the messenger account itself is deleted.

It is important to clarify that registration in Telegram will continue to occur only by phone number.

Reactions without limits

• All users have dozens of new reactions, including some that previously could only be sent with a Telegram Premium subscription, such as 🐳 🤨 🌭 and some others.

• Updated reaction selection menu can be expanded — it's much more convenient to view many new emojis in the expanded panel.

• The reactions you use most often are automatically moved to the top of the list.

• Owners of a Premium subscription will be able to use as reactions not only standard, but also any of the thousands of custom emoji.

• Premium users can now send up to 3 reactions per message.

• Updated reactions menu works in private chats and groups.

• Group chat admins can choose whether custom sets are available as reactions in their community.

Profile Status Emoji

• Users with a Telegram Premium subscription can now set an animated status emoji next to their name.

• Status will show what mood the user is in or what they are doing.

• You can set one of several standard statuses that change color depending on the Telegram theme, — or choose from an endless variety of custom emoji.

• To set your status, click on your Premium icon above your chat list or go to Settings.

• If you want to turn on status for a given time period, hold down the selected emoji.

• Now a new unique link format is available in Telegram, which will allow you to still quickly go to your public profile, group or channel — username.t.me.

• The novelty is intended for those who want to emphasize the username (or prefer not to look for the symbol / on the keyboard).
