Reactions in Telegram for macOS

In Beta-version of Telegram for macOS, you can see partial support for reactions.

Now you can only put the reaction that other users have already left — for example, through client for Android from competition. In future versions, the ability to set any available reactions will be added.

At the same time, in the group chat you can see who and which reaction was put on the message.

Also, you can disable reactions in your channels and groups, or allow only some of the emojis.

- Admins can turn off/on reactions
- Admins can decide which reactions to be allowed from available emoji list
- A user can react to the message with any available emoji/reaction
- Users can take back the reaction or modify reactions
- In groups, users can see reacted users list for a specific message
- In channels,only reactions count is shown

Quick Reaction

Telegram iOS beta got the ability to set a quick reaction on double tap. Quick reaction emoji selection can be changed on Stickers and Masks settings.

Double tap on any message will add the quick reaction to it, another double tap will remove the reaction

Where Are Reactions

Some attentive users of Telegram Beta have found that in some groups and channels reactions to messages has disappeared.

It happened because of changes in the reactions system: they became disabled by default in groups and channels. In PMs, the logic of reactions remains the same, so you can react to any message as you did before.

It is unknown whether the logic of this function will undergo further adjustments.

Spoiler Formatting

Telegram iOS beta received new text formatting option called Spoiler.

By applying spoiler formatting, the message will be hidden in the chat and will be revealed only after tapping on it

Best and worst Telegram features in 2021

The 2021st year is approaching its end. It's the time to have a look at the features which were introduced this year.

Current year brought many features, but not all of them are favored by users. Some of them were not as successful as it was promised: for example, Telegram promised video chats to be actually unlimited, while in reality the stream becomes unstable at about 2000 users.

Telegram Desktop beta has arrived with Spoiler and Reactions

Along with that it has got icons on 3dots menu and right click menu

Reactions to share feelings and feedback – without sending any messages.

Double tap a message to send a quick 👍 reaction. For more reactions like 😁 🎉 😱 🔥 👎, tap once on the message (or press and hold, if on iOS). Each reaction appears with its own unique animation.

You can change your default reaction to another emoji in Settings. Android: Chat Settings > Quick Reaction. iOS: Stickers and Emoji > Quick Reaction.

Reactions are always on in private chats. In groups and channels, the admins decide whether to turn on reactions and choose which reaction emoji are available in the chat. This enables many different ways to collect feedback – from simple likes ❤️ to upvote 👍 and downvote 👎 systems, and beyond.

Admins can control reactions via their group or channel's Info Page > Edit > Reactions.

To discuss the fates of Ciri or Peter Parker without spoiling the fun for others, select any part of your text when typing and choose the new 'Spoiler' formatting. This will hide the selected part of the message in the chat, as well as in the chat list and notifications.
