Improved Shared Media Navigation
• Now there is the ability to adjust the size of the grid by pressing the desired button ("Zoom In" or "Zoom Out") or with a two-finger gesture.
• There is a new date block that allows you to move through the section even faster by pulling it.
• Shared media now can also be displayed as a calendar.
• To use the calendar in this section, just open the new menu in the upper right corner of the Media tab, or click on the date block.
• In the menu, you can now choose content to be displayed in the Media tab - just photos, just videos, or both.

Join Requests for Groups and Channels
• You can now create special invitation links for groups and channels, joining from which is possible only after the approval of the request by a chat administrator.
• To view new requests, administrators simply click on the new panel under the chat header.
• Before deciding whether to accept or reject an application, administrators can view users' public data - such as photos and "About Yourself" information.
• Membership request mode can be enabled for any of the optional invitation links in your group or channel settings.

Unique Names for Invite Links
• Invitation links can now be given names that are visible only to administrators in the group settings.

Global Chat Themes (iOS only)
• The eight color themes that could be set for personal chats can now be applied to the entire Telegram app.
• Each theme has day and night versions, color gradients for message blocks and animated backgrounds with unique patterns.
• In this update, the design settings section has been redesigned to make theme selection more convenient.
• Advanced settings can be found under Appearance > Chat Themes.

Transit Times for Shared Locations (iOS only)
• Tapping a geoposition opens a map - now you can see how quickly you will get to a given location on foot, by car, or by public transportation.
• To build a route or call a cab, tap on the time, and the geoposition will open in another application.
• Travel time is shown for both exact geo-positioning and real-time geo-positioning broadcasts.

Instant Media Captions (iOS only)
• Previously typed text draft will be automatically substituted in the caption field after adding an attachment to it.

Settings updated for iOS 15
• Telegram has updated the settings section of the iOS app to match the design with standards adopted in iOS 15.
• Notifications and sticker settings have been optimized, and the Devices section has been made clearer with new icons and more conveniently structured information.
• You can click on any of your connected devices to see more information or end a session remotely.

More Interactive Emoji
• Some animated emoji now have full-screen effects when clicked, such as 👻, 👎, 🤮, 😂, 💸 and 🎃.
• When you click on the emoji, your interlocutor will see the effect at the same time as you if their chat with you is open too.

Test Launch of Telegram Ads

Sponsored messages started to appear in large channels. Right now all of them lead you to a Pavel Durov's post in his Russian channel where he explains the upcoming ad platform.

Sponsored messages can be displayed in public channels with more than 1K+ subscribers, they also have a 160 symbols limit. The messages are based on the channel's general topic they're being displayed in.

Telegram Info team reminds you that sponsored messages appear without channel owners' consent and currently they can't be turned off.

Telegram’s latest update lets you time travel through years of Shared Media in any chat by dragging the date bar and pinching to zoom in or out. From there, tap the bar to open a new calendar view with media previews for each day.

Also in this update, users can join and create closed communities with the new Admin Approval setting for invite links.

When opening these links, potential members can send a Join Request, which must be approved by an admin before that user can access the group or channel.

Bot developers now have the tools to create bots that can share invite links and approve potential members – or even give them special tasks before they are allowed to join.

Additionally, iOS has redesigned Appearance settings – including new themes for the entire app, each with a Day and Night Mode, colorful animated background and gradient message bubbles.

You can personalize these themes with custom colors and patterns, and tap Chat Themes to edit and share your designs.

These new global themes will be available on Android in future updates.

Calendar View for Shared Media

To quickly find media from a specific time, tap on the date bar to open a calendar interface with media previews for each day – then tap to see all the media from that date.

In addition to the new tools for jumping between past and present, you can now filter shared media to show only photos, only videos, or both.

Join Requests for Groups and Channels

Invite links let you give users the opportunity to join your group or channel on their own time – whether you share the link privately or turn it into a QR code on a billboard is up to you. When you create additional invite links for your chat, there is a now a Request Admin Approval setting, which gives admins more control over who is able to join and see the chat.

When a user opens a link with Admin Approval turned on, they will see a button to send a join request that admins can manage from a new bar at the top of the chat. From there, admins can view an applicant's public profile pictures and bio, then approve or dismiss their request.

For example, you could post an invite link to your poetry channel on social media – then approve only your close friends and people in purple to see your writing.

Unique Names for Invite Links

Admin Approval can be applied to any link in the 'Additional Invite Links' section – we've also added the ability to give all of those links unique names, so you can label them for better organization.

Link names will be especially helpful if you're using all the different options that exist for invite links, such as limits on duration, number of uses , etc.

Transit Times for Shared Locations on iOS

You can show where you are or where you're headed by sending a location from the attachment menu 📎 in the message bar. Tapping a shared location pulls up a map of the area – which now shows you the travel time to get there by 🚶🏻‍♂️foot, 🚘 car, or 🚆public transport. To see detailed directions or get a taxi to the location, tap on the travel time to open it in your preferred app.

Transit times are shown for both static and live locations – so you can see how long it will take to meet your friends while they're on the move.

Instant Media Captions for iOS

The text you type in the message bar now automatically converts to a caption when you attach media, so you'll never have to retype or cut and paste what you just wrote. This also works with Cloud Drafts – so you can type out the message on your computer, then simply attach the photo from your phone and send it all together.

Settings on iOS have been redesigned to match the style of iOS 15, including streamlined Notification and Sticker settings. The Devices section now gives you a clearer overview of your active sessions with new icons – tap any device to see more details or log out from it remotely.

Remember that locations shown for your devices are based exclusively on their IP addresses. This data is not always accurate, so don't be surprised if your laptop suddenly travels to Iceland while you're sleeping.
