Telegram Desktop was updated to stable version 2.8.8, and then to 2.8.9 version

What's new in 2.8.9:
— Fix version on Windows without SetDefaultDllDirectories.
— Fix fonts on Linux.

What's new in 2.8.8:
— Added a simple image editor. Crop photos or highlight parts of screenshots before sending.
— Ability to share system sound while screen sharing.
— Use Direct3D 9 backend in ANGLE by default (Windows).
— Fix "Show in Finder" not focusing the Finder window (macOS).
— Use GTK from a child process (Linux).

Telegram X strings for Android have appeared on the official messenger translation platform.

The strings are responsible for the built-in app update by passing the store. Probably, the application will be updated through an integrated loader, similar to Telegram for Android, installed via an APK file or from the website, or from Telegram Desktop.

The results of the second round of the Data Clustering Contest have been announced.

The main task of this stage was to improve the C / C++ library created by the participants of the first stage, which could determine the language affiliation and topics of Telegram channels based on the data provided.

The prizes were divided as follows:

— 1 first place winner will receive $12.000.
— 2 runners-up will receive $7,500 each.
— 1 contestant who took third place will receive $4,000.
— 8 contestants who took fourth place will receive $2,500 each.

In the judges' assessment, the accuracy and speed were the main criteria. If a submission required adjustments or fixes to make it work, it was penalized accordingly.
