The results of the first round of the Data Clustering Contest have been announced.

Recall that the main task of this stage was to create a C / C++ library, which could determine the language affiliation and topics of Telegram channels based on the data provided.

The prizes were divided as follows:

— 2 first place winners will receive $9.000 each.
— 3 runners-up will receive $5,000 each.
— 4 contestants who took third place will receive $3,000 each.
— 3 contestants who took fourth place will receive $2,000 each.

In the judges' assessment, the exact sorting by category was more significant than the sorting by language. However, the overall speed of the algorithm influenced the final decision of the jury. For correcting mistakes and correcting the competition work, participants were fined.

Detailed information about the winners and their prizes can be viewed on the official Telegram contests channel.

The next round of the competition will be announced within two weeks. All participants of the first stage will be able to take part in the second round.

Telegram for Android with no copyright restrictions

Telegram can be downloaded from Google Play, which sets one into a number of limitations: piracy content must be blocked, or else the app will be kicked out of the store. Moreover, each update gets delayed because of app moderation.

Telegram launches new distribution channel for the Android app — APK file download from the official website. The version you can download there is special: according to the site, it has less restrictions and updates faster than the Google Play one. It means the app has copyright restrictions disabled and has built-in updater to bypass the app store.

Such experience is already applied for Telegram Desktop and Telegram MacOS, if you download them from the official website.
