Telegram strives for new heights
After the new rules on WhatsApp and the blocking of Trump on Twitter, the flight of users on Telegram intensified.
According to AppAnnie, as of January 9, in 43 countries, the Android version of the client is ranked first in downloads in the Communications category. And if earlier we usually showed the top on the less popular iOS, now Telegram has burst into a more massive segment - Android devices.
Basically, the messenger was in the top in Central and Latin America, post-Soviet countries, Africa and Asia.

1. Voice call recording
Pavel Durov was asked: will the recording of voice chats, which recently appeared in Telegram, be implemented?
Command Works above this - I approved the design and architecture for this feature a week ago - Pavel answered.
2. Video calls and screen sharing
Will group video calls be in the next update?
— Yes, we are working support for video in voice chats. Hopefully finished by the next update. Voice chats will also receive screen sharing.
3. Telegram web client
— I hope that there will be a new web version in a few weeks. Ultra-fast (for a web application), minimalistic, but at the same time beautiful and feature-rich client.
No one web application can outperform native when it comes to speed, but it outperforms any other web communication tool in almost every way .

A: All Telegram client apps are fully open source. We offer verifiable builds both for iOS and Android – this technology allows to independently verify that the application you download from the app stores was built using the exact same code that we publish.
By contrast, publishing the server code doesn’t provide security guarantees neither for Secret Chats nor for Cloud Chats. This is because – unlike with the client-side code – there’s no way to verify that the same code is run on the servers.
As for Secret Chats, you don’t need the server-side code to check their integrity – the point of end-to-end encryption is that it must be solid regardless of how the servers function.
In a post on his channel, Pavel Durov explained why Telegram hasn't published the server code, even as a publicity stunt.
The encryption and API used on Telegram's servers are fully documented and open for review by security experts. We welcome any comments at security@telegram.org

Pavel Durov refused the offer of a consortium of Western funds to invest in Telegram, sources close to the businessman told The Bell.
According to the two people, investors valued Telegram at $30 billion and were asking for a 5-10% stake. The offer was made at the end of last week, and Durov has already rejected it.
Durov stated that Telegram is reluctant to take on "any form of exit" obligations for potential investors. The company is not preparing for a sale, merger, or IPO.
