Comments in Telegram
The Beta version of Telegram for Android now has inline comments on posts. They are based on the function of linking a chat to a channel.
To activate comments, you need to link the chat to the channel.
A user leaving a comment on a post writes a message to the chat without joining it.
If the chat is prohibited from sending messages, media, or slow mode is enabled, these restrictions will apply to comments.

In the beta version of Telegram for Android 7.1, a new menu has appeared in the chat. It is called by a long press on the avatar.
If you hold down an avatar, you can see an enlarged avatar and useful buttons below it: open a dialog or go to a profile. This also works with a repost from a linked channel. If you select a user, an additional "Mention" item appears, which also works with users without usernames.

Administrator anonymity in group chats
It seems that the massive detentions of Belarusians and the huge number of created house and district chats in Belarus prompted Telegram to improve the privacy of the messenger in relation to group administrators.
In the upcoming Telegram update, it will be possible to hide and make anonymous the creator and group administrators.
An item will appear in the rights of each administrator, which makes it possible to hide him from the list of participants and make messages from him anonymous.
The administrators themselves with anonymity enabled will disappear from the list of participants. Messages from them will be sent as messages on behalf of the group.
In older clients, messages will be displayed from an account named DELETED (this should be fixed after the update).

Telegram crashed
Some channels do not display the number of views for channels.
Telegram also stopped responding to API method requests, which can lead to malfunctioning of posting bots.
The development team is already aware of the crash and is working on a fix.

Common groups won't display the group if the person is "Anonymous Admin" in the group.
Members/Admin list won't display anonymous admins.
Owner/Admins can see each other in members list. (Not in common groups though)

Today we are adding native support for comments in channels. So once you update Telegram, you’ll be able to leave comments in some channels, including this one.
Throughout the next 10 days I’ll be posting stuff here to try this feature out.
What I like about our implementation of comments is that they are indistinguishable from a group chat. In fact, all comments in a channel are hosted in a group attached to that channel.
This allows for many possibilities both for commenters (e.g. adding voice messages, stickers, GIFs etc. to comments) and for admins (e.g. limiting voice messages, stickers, GIFs etc. in comments).
Throughout the next 10 days I’ll be posting stuff here to try this feature out.

From now on, you can filter search results by type using the new tabs: Media, Links, Files and others. To search a particular time period, just type “August 14” or “Yesterday”. Typing the name of any person, group, channel or bot will add a filter by source.

Another new feature in today’s update is search filters. You can see the search tabs when tapping on the search icon/field from the main screen of Telegram.
The obvious purpose of these tabs is to make finding messages easier. But you can also use them to view all media from all your chats and channels in one chronological feed. It gives you a quick overview of all your audiovisual content.
What I like about these search tabs is that they look and act exactly as shared media tabs you already know (and love).
However, we don’t want new users to get confused by a level of complexity they don’t need, so you have to have at least 10 chats in your inbox to see the tabs.

Lastly, we have introduced Anonymous Admins for groups today. This is a handy feature for celebrities and generally for anyone who wants to run a large group chat without risking to get too many incoming private messages.
The creator of the group can make any group admin (including ±self) anonymous. After this, the admin will disappear from the group member list and will post messages on the group’s behalf.
If you add different “titles” for different anonymous admins in the group chat, the members of the group will be able tell which admin posted which message. I am personally happy we added this feature, because for the first time in many years I was able to start a public group chat (@durovschat) without having my inbox flooded.
