Me: Yes officer.

VO: Why?
Me: Honestly, I made an error because of my fascination towards commercial side of pharma but I have realised as to add more products to the market, I need to learn drug discovery and not an MBA…(interrupted)

VO: What was your bachelor’s GPA? Oh you did masters too? why go for another masters now?
ME: Officer my bachelor’s GPA was 7.22 on scale of (interrupted and asked for transcript, which I passed while completing my answer) and I want to learn personalised medicine and drug discovery…With my previous masters I learnt generic product development and I want to be established in the niche I am going for.

VO: How are you planning to pay 93K USD?
Me: Through my father’s savings and education loan amounting cumulatively to X (kept typing) and to notify officer, the program fees are 58K, mentioned number is just a common amount of the medical school that my program is associated with.

VO: (typed for a while maybe he was checking the program details) Okay, can you explain the application process and the eligibility criteria?

VO: what did they asked in an interview?
Me: They stressed more on my research, my current job and how will I benefit from this degree, what do I aim to contribute to the cohort (interrupted)

VO: Oh, what kind of research?
Me: I developed
Vitamin D3 probiotic oral suspension which is now commercialised by Abbot Pharmaceuticals and Nano-formulation for eye infection as well.

VO: But can you take Vitamin D3 in a suspension form?
ME: Traditionally, it was injected and than came in capsules, but now, this formulation has lactobacilli bacteria which are present in our GIT already and VIT D3 is incorporated in similar lab grown organism and through which it stays protected in acidic pH of stomach, hence it can be administered (interrupted)

🔹Me: Well after my final exams my professor suggested me to atttend an international career fair where there were 20 more unis. And thats where i got to know about Bradley and UNT which is my other admit.

🔻VO: What did u like about Bradley?
🔹Me: (no rank no research no clubs or labs and all that bs) connected the core subjects to my immediate goals and then connected electives which others dont offer with my future goals.

🔻VO: What will u study there?
🔹Me: Well in my 1st sem python progg (interrupted)

🔻VO: (tapping on my i20) what course will you be studying?
🔹Me: ohh sorry. Masters in DS and analytics with a concentration in Business analytics.

Tips and Suggestions:
Listened to others mocks. Researched alot about not only my unis and its curriculum, but also the unis i got admit from n universities i applied to. Take heed of whatever this group of people are telling you to. These guys are pros and know what they are talkin about.
I framed all my answers in such a way that they wont even need to ask the follow up qs.
And please stop askin about approval rate. Once you are in there you cant focus on anyone.

Hardwork. University. Prep. Confidence matters.

So, we were taken in at 12 PM. After that, we gave the biometrics and at that time, only one VO was taking interviews for all the applicants—a curly-haired lady. It went like this:



🔹Me: Good afternoon, Officer! (with a big smile)

🔻VO: Good afternoon! So, you’re going to the City University of New York, I see! (excitedly)

🔹Me: Yes, I am going to the City University of New York.



🔻VO: Did you apply to any other universities?

🔹Me: Yes, I have applied to several other universities, such as...

🔹Me: As I am planning to do a Bachelor in Sociology, the core modules of this degree at Queens really caught my attention, such as...

She stopped me there and said, "I see you are going to study Sociology."

By that time, I was confident about getting the visa.

🔻VO: And you’ve been to the Maldives, I see. How long did you stay there?

This was the trick question and I forgot exactly how long I stayed.

She gave me that white approval paper first. Then I said, “Won’t I get the blue leaflet?”


🔹VO: Oh, do you want the blue leaflet? Let me see if I have one.


She went inside, searched for one, came back and said, “This was the last one I had,” and gave it to me. I was already in tears.

Key Takeaways:

One thing I noticed was that she wasn’t rejecting anyone for no reason. Either it was because of their DS-160 or their interview performance. If she decided not to give the visa based on the DS-160, she didn’t ask more than one or two questions. You have to be really careful with your DS-160.


I also saw a lot of people whose answers sounded memorized, which could be a reason for rejection.

Lastly, there’s nothing above praying. Tahajjud really works like magic and so do prayers. Keep two nafl fasts with intention—it works. Since I had no other options, I didn’t plan for any other countries. This was everything I thought about.


You have to be really, really confident. I saw people with very good profiles getting rejected just because they were nervous on the interview day. Trust the process and believe in yourself. It will all work out, InshaAllah.

She cut me off many times and didn’t let me complete my answers fully when she got what she needed, so it’s okay to get cut off.

VO: Smiled and said I’m good thank you

VO: Oh, you’re going to FIT
Me: Yes officer, I’m going to FIT for my masters in Mechanical Engineering.

VO: Are there any specific reasons why you chose this university?
Me: Yes officer, I chose FIT because of its unique location on Florida’s Spacecoast. With proximity to the Kennedy Space centre and other aerospace industries was very appealing to me.

He nodded and said OK and I stopped there.

VO: What was your CGPA?

Me: 6.9 officer

VO: Did you applied to any other universities?

Me: Yes officer, apart from FIT, I’d also applied to University of Alabama at Birmingham and Texas State University. I received offer letter from UAB. Unfortunately TSU didn’t accepted my application.

VO: Hmm, how are you going to fund your education?

Me: Officer, I’m gonna fund my education with my father’s savings of $59k. I’ve also secured an education loan from SBI worth $71.2k.

VO: Hmm OK, I’m going to keep your passport with me. You will get it in a week.

Me: (Was shocked af) Thank you officer. I wish you a very best day officer. I moved away from counter to exit but came back again and said Merry Christmas Officer. He smiled and gave me a thumbs up 👍

My personal experience:

Guys, there were both acceptance and rejection in Delhi today. The VO had rejected 4 people in front of me and honestly I too thought that I was gonna get rejected today. But, put a smile on your face while answering, answer with confidence and look them into eyes. Don’t give generic answers when asked about why you chose this university? Give your real reason why you selected that university and don’t talk about curriculum or faculty or research. Give trivial and real reasons. Don’t let other applicants experiences at the embassy or consulate affect you. Believe in yourself and say this one thing that I’m not gonna come back with my passport from the interview. Make your American dream come true and best of luck y’all. Go and nail your interview!

Today’s Situation in New Delhi Consulate : 90% rejections 10% approvals

30-40 people in the queue before Visa interview, i have seen only one approval for a girl in #counter 13 (did by Old Man) and remaining all people got rejected.

Me: I told VO what inspired me to become a regulatory affairs specialist and i was about to go into the reasons that made me choose LIU. VO stopped me and said place your right hand on the scanner. i placed it and VO kept my passport.
i was shaking and couldn't grab my i20 from the tray but yeah it was done.

Trust yourself and walk upright. you paid 15k for that and only you can make it happen

no officer or consulate is biased and giving unfair judgements. there's always a reason even if it's not apparent.
