Сегодня наш самый масштабный эксперимент с подкастом за все время вообще.

Совершенно случайно я познакомился с чуваками из Тбилисского хакерспейса F0rthspace. Это такое место — реально батин гараж на максималках, и ничего общего с хацкерами и всякими анонимусами у него нет.

И вот мы взяли камеры, микрофоны — и пошли к ним в гости, писать выпуск прямо там, среди проводов, верстаков, паяльников, три дэ принтеров, кастомных синтезаторов, серваков, (и даже огнемета).

Если собирались только слушать — хоть краем глаза гляньте на экран, там в этот раз будет сильно интереснее, чем наши обычные морды. Место просто крышесносное, как будто попадаешь в сериал про какую-нибудь олдскульную кремниевую долину.

The next release of NixOS Linux distribution and nixpkgs package repository is coming soon, and we're gathering to make it better.

The mission of Zero Hydra Failures is to fix as many packages as we can in nixpkgs — the largest software repository ever. zh.fail shows packages which currently fail. We fix some and create PRs.

We also just chat about Nix, functional languages, declarative OS's, reproducible builds, etc.

Everybody is welcome to join. You don't need any prior Nix packaging experience as we can explain to you both how Nix works and how to fix the failing packages.
If you would like to learn about Nix, NixOS and nixpkgs beforehand, you can start at https://nixos.org. There are also an english-speaking (https://t.me/nixos_en) and a russian-speaking (https://t.me/ru_nixos) communities on Telegram.

- GNU Guix: обзор возможностей и сравнение с дистрибутивами GNU/Linux. (Михаил Кириллов) :: Что из себя представляет проект Guix, какие возможности в нем представлены относительно других дистрибутивов например NixOS, Gentoo, etc. Что такое воспроизводимая сборка и раскрутка компилятора, а также почему Guix предоставляет больше свобод пользователю чем остальные.

- Как захакать любой проект (который есть в гикс) за 3 секунды? (Antony S) :: Имея описание пакета Guix, как за несколько секунд получить среду разработки этого пакета? Как внести изменения в его исходный код, и сразу же протестировать их?

- Arei/Ares: Интерактивная разработка на Guile Scheme. (Andrew Tropin) :: Что такое explorative programming? Почему REPL недостаточно? Как пользоваться всей мощью лиспов? При чём здесь Guix?

Далее свободная часть, ответим на вопросы, поможем с установкой, поделаем практическую часть из докладов.

Category theory, linear algebra and its applications in functional programming

Category theory, a branch of mathematics, provides a high-level abstraction framework that is both elegant and powerful. It deals with the structures of categories and morphisms, offering a unifying language for mathematics. This lecture will elucidate the significance of category theory in functional programming, however, it will mostly focus on the mathematical aspects of the category theory rather than programming. If you would like to brush up on some math, I will recommend you reading these short notes (notes).

Category theory and its applications in functional programming

Welcome to the second lecture session about Category Theory, where we will delve deeper into advanced topics. This lecture will focus on functors, exploring their role as morphisms between categories, and natural transformations, which provide a way to transform one functor into another. We will also cover limits and colimits, which generalize notions of products and unions within category theory. Additionally, we will examine adjunctions of functors, pairs of functors in specific relationships, and introduce monads, a powerful concept in both category theory and functional programming.

Метод конечных элементов своими руками // Finite Element Method: A Homemade 2D Solver

Метод конечных элементов (МКЭ) применяют в задачах упругости, теплопередачи, гидродинамики — всюду, где нужно как-то решить уравнения сплошной среды или поля. Вокруг него построены ANSYS и подобные ему программы для инженерных расчётов. Мы попробуем объяснить МКЭ от самых основ, с простенькой учебной реализацией и вовсе без упоминания интегралов, частных производных и прочей жути. Это будет МКЭ для расчёта упругой двумерной пластины на прочность и жёсткость. Обсудим все этапы: интерактивный редактор, разбиение модели на треугольные элементы, вычисление напряжений и деформаций, визуализацию результата. Ни одна часть алгоритма не спрячется от нас в недрах MATLAB или NumPy. Подход будет ужасно неоптимальным, но максимально ясным и удобным для освоения.
