The tech collective behind NoBlogs.org and a host of other free online initiatives has announced that they are shutting down as a consequence of the US State Department designating them a "global terrorist."

This represents a significant blow to online freedom. It is not just a threat to anarchists or volunteer-run tech collectives; the Trump administration aims to shut down any institution or project that it perceives to stand in the way of its pursuit of totalitarian control.

We must fight them every inch of the way.

Alternative für Deutschland—the German fascist party—received the most votes in today's election in Saxony-Anhalt, though not enough to form a government alone.

To form a government in Saxony-Anhalt, the AFD would have to work with the centrist conservatives or with the BSW Party, a red-brown alliance of pro-Russia tankies with anti-immigrant policies. Despite only taking 5% of the vote, the BSW could be in a position to play kingmaker.

Whatever party works with AfD will experience tremendous external and internal pressure, probably leading to additional political ruptures. But if the conservative, center, and left parties combine to form a government without AfD, that coalition will also be extremely volatile.

As long as AfD is out of power, fascists can masquerade as "rebels" representing an improvement on the status quo. But once AfD comes to power, they will be able to use the full strength of the state to repress immigrants and others.

It will take a revolutionary movement to solve this double bind.

If nothing else, the polls show that support for centrists is collapsing. Many AfD voters previously voted for the Christian Democrats, the centrist conservative party.

Betting on the status quo is a losing proposition. Today, we need proposals for radical social change more than ever.

It is demeaning to be forced to sell away our time and creativity rather than being free to do things that are intrinsically meaningful.

On the scale of the planet, the name for this problem is capitalism. From the vantage point of the individual, the name for it is work.

https://crimethinc.com/antiwork

The social order that forces you to sell your time and labor to the highest bidder is squandering your potential, the same way it is grinding cows into hamburger and reducing rainforests to junk mail for the benefit of a few billionaires. Another century like this and our species will be done for.

Your personal struggle to resist work is a microcosm of our species’ struggle to escape the global feedback loop that is propelling us into oppression, war, and ecological catastrophe.

You deserve the freedom to make the most of your potential as you see fit, to live the life of your choosing rather than toiling so that others may profit.

Abolish work.

The reigning social order is extremely precarious. It is impossible to maintain such intense disparities in wealth and power without continuous surveillance and repression. That is why Flock cameras and related technologies have become ubiquitous.

To fight surveillance is to resist tyranny. But the only way to put an end to invasive surveillance technologies is to topple the social order that requires them.

Donald Trump's proposed uniforms for the US "Space Force" remind us of nothing so much as the well-known Italian film, Fascists on Mars.

Repression and Resistance in Russia: An Overview

https://crimethinc.com/Russia2026

Across three decades, Russia has been at the forefront of the worldwide descent into authoritarianism. Vladimir Putin’s government has suppressed opposition in ways that aspiring autocrats like Donald Trump are still striving to emulate. Yet despite widespread repression, there is still resistance in Russia, and as Putin’s model proliferates, people everywhere around the world stand to benefit from learning about it.

Likewise, we should support Russian anarchist and anti-war prisoners, both because resistance within Russia offers hope for the eventual end of war and totalitarianism and because, should autocrats consolidate power where we live, we will wish for people to support us, as well.

Post Modern Times: разбор экономического эксперимента с бесплатным кафе в Миннеаполисе

https://crimethinc.com/2026/08/13/post-modern-times-razbor-ekonomichieskogho-ekspierimienta-s-biesplatnym-kafie-v-minnieapolisie

Holding Fascism at Bay in the Streets under Trump 2.0

https://crimethinc.com/spiderman

One of the enigmas of the second Trump administration is that the grassroots fascist activity of 2017 to 2020 has not returned with comparable force. But as Trump’s hold on power weakens, we will likely see the far right return to the streets. This makes it important to track what fascists are trying to do today and to block them every step of the way.

As soon as the attacks occurred on September 11, 2001, we designed this poster and began circulating it.

We knew the attacks on the United States didn't come out of nowhere.

And as the patriots waved their flags, we knew that it wouldn't be long before there were hundreds of thousands more dead.

Although the wars that followed September 11, 2001 did eventually put Saddam Hussein out of a job—enabling the Islamic State to emerge in his wake—the fact that the Taliban remain in power today underscores the senselessness of the US response.

Compared to the policies of the US government, our statement from September 2001 has aged well.

The chief beneficiaries of the "War on Terror" have been the military-industrial complex and the security industry, both of which are transforming the US into an occupied territory controlled by counterinsurgency strategy.

The war has come home. In 2026, as in 2001, we continue to resist it.

On September 11, 2001, two young anarchist organizers who had traveled to DC to prepare for the mobilization against the International Monetary Fund found themselves standing before the flaming Pentagon, looking into the burning future that we now inhabit.

Here is their story.

https://crimethinc.com/craziestwalk

Though the scheduled IMF protests were cancelled, thousands still gathered in DC on September 30, 2001 for what were effectively the first anti-war protests of the 21st century, opposing the US invasion of Afghanistan when no one else dared criticize the bilateral warmongering of the US government.

This narrative is a time capsule from another era, affording us a glimpse of what we lost when the proponents of the "War on Terror" managed to stifle the anti-capitalist movements of the turn of the century—and thereby offering us some perspective on our present.
