We are a rebel alliance—a decentralized network pledged to anonymous collective action—a breakout from the prisons of our age. We strive to reinvent our lives and our world according to the principles of self-determination and mutual aid.

Today, it has been three years since Aragorn! passed away—a tireless polemicist and a fierce partisan of anarchist infrastructure. His absence still haunts us.

Injury against Erasure, Damage against Time—Two Stories about Love and Death

https://crimethinc.com/injury

Two retellings of a classic story, the tale of the lovers who secure a single night together before one of them is to be executed. The one who is to go free urges her partner to leave marks on her body by which she might remember him, yet try as they might, she comes away bare.

Since we published our classic text about the relationship between love and revolt—back in 1997—it has only become more difficult to imagine a life guided chiefly by joy and shared desire, a form of collective rebellion animated by the same passion that inspires romantic love.

As far as we're concerned, that only makes it more pressing.

"Falling in love is the fundamental revolutionary act, the prerequisite for resistance to today’s tedious, socially restrictive, culturally constrictive world."

Why is Norfolk Southern, the company responsible for the environmental catastrophe in East Palestine, Ohio, one of the donors to the Atlanta Police Foundation, which is trying to destroy the forest in Atlanta in order to build Cop City?

It makes sense, if you think about it: corporations like Norfolk Southern depend on police violence to suppress protests that might otherwise force them to minimize the risks that their profiteering exposes others to. Police are an essential element in their strategy of raking in profits while offloading the costs onto forests, small towns like East Palestine, and ordinary people like us.

We need an ecological movement that can defend our communities. Otherwise, we will end up ruled by oligarchs in an uninhabitable world.

For over a decade, the pundit Chris Hedges has been a weathervane for bad politics. In 2011, he devised a divisive narrative that the FBI used to target participants in the Occupy movement, famously calling the black bloc "The Cancer in Occupy." Under Trump, he joined the President in demonizing "Antifa," accusing anti-fascists of "violence" at the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville and asserting that the neo-Nazis who carried out a lethal car attack there were "victims." Today, he will be participating in a supposed "anti-war" protest in Washington, DC along with white supremacists who attended that rally in Charlottesville—on the premise that "The left has become largely irrelevant in the US because it is incapable of working with the right."

Consult It's Going Down for a full list of the fascists, authoritarians, and conspiracy theorists participating:

The one thing that seems to link all these people is the desire for Vladimir Putin to have a free hand in Ukraine. Even Medea Benjamin—who celebrated Trump giving Erdoğan permission to invade Rojava and called that "anti-war"—was persuaded at the last minute not to speak by her organization, Code Pink, for fear that doing so would associate her with an anti-gay, anti-trans, anti-feminist, Islamophobic and white nationalist agenda.

The Uprising in Peru

In December 2022, a wave of popular protests led by campesino and Indigenous movements swept Peru, defying a state of emergency and police violence that has claimed more than 60 lives and injured thousands.

We spoke with participants in Periodico Libertária, an anarchist publication that has emerged as part of the resistance to the Peruvian regime. Their goal, as they put it, is “the total liberation of the Andes and of all the territory dominated by the murderous state called ‘Peru.’”

President’s Day observes the birthday of George Washington. For our part, we observe this day by remembering the courageous enslaved people and indentured servants who sought to escape from captivity under George Washington and the Native Americans who defended themselves against his attacks.

A Revolta Popular no Peru

The Forest in the City

https://crimethinc.com/ForestintheCity

The fight to defend the Weelaunee Forest in Atlanta has become one of the most vibrant movements of the post-Trump era, interweaving environmentalism, abolitionism, and the struggle against gentrification. Yet as police begin employing lethal violence and indiscriminate terrorism charges, it has reached a critical juncture.

In this comprehensive history of the past year of struggle, participants reflect on the practices that have given the movement strength and analyze the challenges that face it.

This is a follow-up to last year's article, "The City in the Forest," which traced the first phase of the movement.

When Russian troops invaded Ukraine a year ago, it took many people by surprise—especially Putin apologists, who had been insisting that reports about Russian military preparations were just saber-rattling from the United States government.

It didn't take us by surprise, because we had been corresponding with Russian and Ukrainian anarchists for years.

We still believe that it is most important to listen to anarchists from the region rather than commentators thousands of miles away.
