This hard work paves the way for the first disbursements in June.
I am grateful to all the MPs who so promptly ratified the agreement with the European Union on €90 billion in support for Ukraine over two years. These funds will strengthen our resilience and help protect the lives of our people, rebuild what has been destroyed by Russian strikes, and defend our independence. This was one of the most important votes – one that demonstrates the constructive nature of our joint work and our readiness to hear one another. Unity in Ukraine is what always works for Ukraine. I am also grateful to our European partners for their readiness to stand with Ukraine and provide meaningful support for our defense, our diplomacy, and our recovery. This is a very important decision that opens the way for the first tranche to be received as early as June. This year, we expect €45 billion in support under the EU’s Ukraine Support Loan instrument.
These funds will be directed toward Ukraine’s defense and security, strengthening energy resilience, and covering the budget deficit.
The European Union’s support enables Ukraine to maintain macro-financial stability and fulfill its social commitments to the people.
