WHO: #Poor_Countries Missing Out on Life Saving #COVID-19 Vaccines

“More than 39 million doses of vaccine have now been administered in at least 49 higher-income countries. Just 25 doses have been given in one lowest-income country. Not 25 million; not 25,000; just 25,” The director general of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom said.

There are several opportunities for the Biden Administration to advance bold, swift action to harness the power and potential of the ocean to tackle the climate crisis and create a more sustainable, more equitable future for people and the planet. https://only.one/act/oceanagenda?utm_source=em&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=oceanagendalaunch&utm_content=oo_email

I am not an American citizen but anyway I just shared this petition to protect the Antarctic and the North American continent because I perceive the planet as our common home and taking care of it feels a global responsibility.
Some information about activism in South America flies into my inbox, very little from India and East Asia and basically NO information about Central Asia and Africa, which I tend to believe is the most urgent.
This is why I post the following link of GREENPEACE AFRICA, which features projects and information about how to get involved. Signing and sharing petitions is a very small gesture but one drop in the ocean is better than none. Sharing information in social media helps to raise awareness in the media, an easy gesture for many.
But if YOU want to make a difference, become PART OF THE CHANGE through volunteering or donations.
Personally I have made the experience that volunteering for a good cause is one of the most gratifying experiences in life…

During the online session of the fifth UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5) which took place 22-23 February 2021, a short online poll was conducted.
Over 98 per cent of respondents agreed that they were concerned about the decline of wildlife, pollinating insects or native flora in their country, as well as about the decline of natural ecosystems and biodiversity at a global scale. They also agreed that governments should invest more in restoring natural ecosystems such as forests, wetlands and coastal mangroves.

Over 95 per cent of those surveyed said they were more likely to purchase products from companies that invest in nature positive production processes and techniques.

A very interesting scientific website (also for non-scientists) discovering the SOUNDS IN THE SEA https://dosits.org/

Deserts and drylands are often far from the barren images they are known for. These ecosystems play a vital role in climate regulation – nearly 46 per cent of global carbon is stored in drylands.

Despite the harsh conditions, they are home to over 2 billion people and harbor some of the world's rarest biodiversity. Many deserts contain hidden water bodies that sustain several species of flora and fauna.

"...an aquatic ecologist who was one of the study’s authors, compared trawling to cutting down forests for agriculture. "It’s wiping out biodiversity, it’s wiping out things like deep sea corals that take hundreds of years to grow..."

...“And now what this study shows is that it also has this other kind of unknown impact, which is that it creates a lot of CO2..."

"...conservation measures need to happen in conjunction with an urgent transition away from fossil fuels..."
