We congratulate Sridipa on qualifying JRF 😀🥳. In the next message Sridipa tells us about NET and its journey.
Hello everyone!
I am Sridipa Dandapat and was a NET aspirant just like you till this 13th July. As you can see my marksheet, I have scored well in paper 1 and not so good in paper 2 and yet I qualified for JRF which is not satiating my will. I wish to work hard even more for one more time with a better score.

Now, to tell you the secret... I must say, PAPER 1 is really important for you to clear NET. Away from your market guide books, you should DOWNLOAD THE SYLLABUS of both the paper and read it carefully. You cannot skip a single thing. For great guidance, you can follow two or three YouTube channels on that particular topic. You can give MOCK TEST on GRADEUP. Because without testing your preparation you cannot dive. And it's better if you give mocktests from your laptop or desktop or even by availing it on cyber cafe. You should invest atleast 2 HOURS A DAY FOR PAPER 1.
Now, for Paper 2 I had read Carter's Routledge History of English literature. Though William J. Long is a better book to begin with. I had followed several YouTube channels to cover all the topics of paper 2. I had skipped world literature as a whole and googled for major and minor writers in specific literary genres. The more dynamic and digital you become to crack NET, the more it's better for you. You should also read summaries, characters, important dialogues or scenes of novels, dramas and short stories. This telegram group is really worthy to follow. I have learnt a lot from this group. Follow it regularly. All literary theories must be covered from a good book like Peter Barry or Louis Tyson. You shouldn't also dare to skip topics like research and English in India and others. Each of the topics hold value. So, my strategy is to STICK TO THE SYLLABUS.
Practice more than you read. And one must thing is when you practice you must google for the other three answers too.
Don't frustrate yourself.
Cracking NET is a journey of pilgrimage almost in the sense that it tests your virtue of PATIENCE. So, be brave and put your best efforts. All the best!
Make note of at least top three rankings from all categories. Very important for Paper 1.
Last date extended. Apply if you missed it.
