It’s crazy how fast time flies. I have been on Telegram for almost six years, and I still remember how much our teachers hated it. They would tell our parents to ban it, and you could actually get punished for using it. Then the pandemic happened, and ironically, they made it a mandatory tool for all our schoolwork and that when I created this account. I really hated that time.

What if you could play a Begena without actually touching one?
I built a small web app that lets you play Begena using only the camera on your phone or computer.
The idea came to me after seeing people use cameras to create musical sounds with hand movements. I wanted to try making something similar with one of EOTC's instruments.
So I gave it a shot.
The app tracks the hand and detect finger movements. Each finger is mapped to a different Begena string, so by bending your fingers in front of the camera, just like you normally do, you can play the instrument in real time.
It uses MediaPipe for hand tracking, JavaScript for finger detection and Web Audio API to play the sounds. (I recorded each sound from my Begena)
Has 4 ቅኝትs (ሰላምታ ስለቸርነትህ ዋኔን አምባሰል) all in D major for now.

የበዓሉ መጠሪያ ስሞች
1. ደብረ ታቦር የተባለው ጌታ ክብሩን የገለጠበት ስፍራ ደብረ ታቦር ስለሆነ በዚሁ በዓሉ ስያሜውን አግኝቷል።
2. ቡሔ ይባላል ፦ ቡሄ ብርሃን ማለት ነው በደብረታቦር ቧ ብሎ የተገለጠውንየጌታችንን የፊቱን ብርሃን ጸዳል፤ የልብሱንም እንደ ነጭ በረዶ ጸዓዳ መሆን ያስረዳል፡፡
3. ቡሔ ማለት መላጣ (ገላጣ) ማለት ነው፡፡ይኸውም በበዓሉ ዋዜማ ልጆች ‹‹ ቡሔ በሉ፤ ቡሔ መጣ ፣ ያ መላጣ፣ ቅቤ ቀቡት እንዳይነጣ›› ይላሉ እዚህ ላይ ቡሄ ያለው ዳቦውን ነው፡፡
4. "ቡሄ ከዋለ የለም ክረምት፤ ዶሮ ከጮኸ የለም ሌሊት›" እንደሚባል ወቅቱበሃገራችን የጸዓተ ክረምት ዋዜማ ስለሆነ የክረምቱ አፈናው ተወግዶ /ተጋምሶ/ የብርሃን ወገግታ የሚታይበት ፤ በዶፉና በጎርፉ ተሸፍና የነበረች መሬት የምትገለጥበት በመሆኑ ነው፡፡
5. ቡሔ (ቡሔእየ) ተብሎ ይተረጎማል ይኸውም የደብረታቦር እለት እርሾ ሳይገባበት ተቦክቶ የሚጋገረውን ኅብስት ያሳያል፡፡
6. ችቦ የመብራቱ ፣ የሙልሙል ዳቦ የመጋገሩና የጅራፍ ማጮኽ ምክንያት
መብራት የሚበራው 12 ለ13 ዋዜማ ሌሊት በ3 ሰዓት ነው
የጌታችን ክብሩ በተገለጠበት ጊዜ ብርሃኑ የሌሊቱን ጨለማ ገፍቶት እስከ አርሞንዔም ደርሶ ነበርና በዚያ አካባቢ የነበሩ እረኞች በሁኔታው ተገርመው ቀንም መስሎኣቸው ሌሊቱም ተዘንግቷቸው በዚያው ቆይተው ነበርና ቤተሰቦቻቸው ምን አግኝቷቸው ይሆን በማለት መብራት አብርተው (ችቦ ይዘው)፣ የሚመገቡትን ይዘው/ሙልሙል/ልጆቻቸውን ፍለጋ ወጥተዋል እረኞችም ያሉበትን ቦታ ለቤተሰቦቻቸው ጅራፍን በማጮኸ አመልክተዋቸዋልና ይህን ለማሰብ ነው፡፡
ዋናው ምሥጢሩ ግን፡- የችቦው ብርሃን የጌታ ክብር መገለጡን፣ የጅራፋ ጩኸት ሐዋርያትን ያስደነገጣቸው የአብ የምስክርነቱ ቃል ምሳሌ ሲሆን፣ ኅብስቱ ጌታችን በመስቀል ላይ መሥዋዕት የመሆኑ (የሥጋወደሙ) ምሳሌ ነው፡፡
• ከላይ እናዳየነው ጅራፋ መጮኹ የአብ የምስክርነቱ ቃል ምሳሌ ነው ይኸውም በታቦር ተራራ ላይ እንደሆነም ተገልጧል ስለዚህ ዛሬም ምሳሌነቱን ለማጉላት ጅራፍ የማጮኹን ሥርዓት በተራራ ማድረግ የተሻለ ነው፡፡ ከዚህ በተረፈ ግን ሥርዓቱን ባልጠበቀ መልኩ ማክበሩ ሃይማኖታዊ ትውፊት የለውም ይልቁንም ሰውን ለማስደንገጥ ተብሎ በአስደንጋጭ ነገሮች ሰውን ማስደንገጥ የበዓሉን ሥርዓት ማሳደፍም ከመሆኑም በላይ ከሃይማኖተኛ ሰው የማይጠበቅ የሰውን መብትና ክብር መንካት ነው
