A Secure English Language Test (SELT) is required by the UK Home Office to prove English proficiency for visas, settlement, and citizenship. Approved providers include IELTS (British Council/IDP), PTE (Pearson), LanguageCert, Trinity College London, and PSI Services. Tests must be booked at a registered center, with results valid for two years.

*Approved SELT Providers & Test Types*
IELTS SELT Consortium: IELTS for UKVI (Academic/General) and IELTS Life Skills.
Pearson (PTE): PTE Academic UKVI or PTE Home.
LanguageCert: LanguageCert SELT for UKVI.
Trinity College London: GESE (Graded Examinations in Spoken English) or ISE (Integrated Skills in English).
PSI Services: Skills for English UKVI.


*Common Test Equivalents by Visa Type*
A1/A2 (Spouse/Parent/Family): IELTS Life Skills (A1/A2), Trinity GESE Grade 2/3, PTE Home (A1/A2).
B1 (Settlement/Citizenship): IELTS Life Skills (B1), Trinity GESE Grade 5, PTE Home B1, Skills for English (B1).
B2+ (Skilled Worker/Student): IELTS for UKVI (Academic/General), PTE Academic UKVI.

*Key Requirements*
Valid ID: Use the same passport/document for booking as for the application.
Validity: Tests are generally accepted for two years for immigration purposes.
Alternative: A degree taught in English (verified via Ecctis) can replace a SELT.
