British Summer Time (BST) or
Daylight Saving[s] Time (DST)
In the UK on the 28th of March 2021 at 01:00 it becomes 02:00.
Making changes to the home and office clock twice a year was a custom. In recent years it is a rarity considering many of us are checking the time by referring to our handheld devices, smartphones, smart watches and of course the radio controlled clocks which automatically adjusts the time by the MSF signal from the Anthorn VLF transmitter in Cumbria based on time standards from National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in Teddington.
However, there are still many of us with watches, wall clocks and alarm clocks which need manual adjustment and we can forget whether to change the time by bringing an hour forward or rewinding backward.
A mnemonic to memorise whether to turn the clock forward or backward is:
Spring forward
Fall back
Spring time you jump or go forward, in this case spring forward.
The reason we, or rather the Americans say fall is because it means autumn, fall or go back.
