๐Ÿ’ฌ Among the greatest novels of the 20th century, A Passage to India tells of the clash of cultures in British India after the turn of the century. In exquisite prose, Forster reveals the menace that lurks just beneath the surface of ordinary life, as a misconception erupts into a devastating affair.

Use Of The Wrong Tense

๐Ÿ—‚Using the infinitive instead of a finite verb.

โŒDonโ€™t say : Sir, to go home to get my book ?
โœ… Say : Sir, may I go home to get my book ?
โž–โžฟโž–โžฟโž–โžฟโž–โžฟ
โญ๏ธ The infinitive simply names an action without reference to person, number or time .Therefore. I canโ€™t make sense without the help of a finite verb .

๐Ÿ—‚Mixing up the tenses .

โœ… Say : They asked him to be captain, but he refused .
โž–โžฟโž–โžฟโž–โžฟโž–โžฟ
โญ๏ธ If you begin with a verb referring to past, keep the verb forms in the past . The same rule applies to tenses throughout a composition .
