โ๏ธEmphasizing different words can dramatically change the meaning of a sentence.

๐ฃ Read the following sentences out loud and emphasize the highlighted word to see how meaning can shift:
1๏ธโฃ <I> didn't say you speech was boring. (It definitely wasn't me)
2๏ธโฃ I <DIDN'T> say your speech was boring. (Emphatically, I did not)
3๏ธโฃ I didn't <SAY> your speech was boring. (I never uttered this out loud)

5๏ธโฃ I didn't say your speech was <BORING>. (My critique of your speech did not include that it was boring)
๐ข Practice changing where your emphasis falls in a sentence to shape meaning in dramatic or subtle ways.
For notes ๐:
๐ As you draft a speech or presentation, consider the meaning you would like the audience to understand from each sentence. Think about which words to emphasize to achieve that meaning.
๐ Vary you volume, pitch, and rhythm. This is not only helps you shape emphasis and meaning, it also keeps listeners more engaged by making sure your speech doesn't feel monotonous.
๐ As your practice your speech, make sure you aren't emphasizing too many words. Doing so will distract the audience and keep you from achieving your desired effect.

I stand among you as one who offers a small message of hope. There are always people who dare to seek on the margin of soceity, who are not dependent on social acceptance, not dependent on social routine, and prefer a kind of free-floating existence under a state of risk.
When an old culture is dying, the new culture is born from a few people who are not afriad to be insecure.
When you hit a snag, don't throw up the whole project. Instead, back off, get mentally refreshed. Try something as simple as playing some musics or taking a walk or a short nap. Then, when you tackle it again, the solution often comes almost before you know.
