๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿค• Verb confusion๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜•
(Know, Learn, Study and take)

๐Ÿ’Ž know is used to show that you have memorized something or that you are certain of something :
๐Ÿ”…I know all of the irregular verbs.

โ–ช๏ธknow described a state, not an activity ( not I'm trying to know my irregular verbs. )

โ–ช๏ธwe can't use it in the continuous form (not I'm knowing my irregular verbs.)

๐Ÿ’Ž Learn describes an activity.
We learn facts when we try to memorize them.
๐Ÿ”…I am learning irregular verbs for the test.

โ–ช๏ธwe can also learn a skill:
๐Ÿ”…I'm learning to play the piano.

โ–ช๏ธwe can't use learn by itself ( not I'm learning for the test. )

๐Ÿ’Ž Study is usually used to talk about a whole subject area rather than individual skills or facts:
๐Ÿ”…my daughter is studying economics at university. (not I am studying how to play the piano. )

โ–ช๏ธWe can use study by itself:
๐Ÿ”…I'm studying for the test on Friday

โ€ผ๏ธNote that we can say learn about not study about:
๐Ÿ”…We are learning about World War I this term.
(not we are studying about)

๐Ÿ’Ž Take can be be used in a similar way to study to refer to subject area :
๐Ÿ”…I am taking a course in Marketing.

โ–ช๏ธit's also used to refer to the individual subjects within a course :
๐Ÿ”…I have to take at least 3 marketing subjects to get the diploma.
