We use two common expressions to ask about specific information in a product.

We use this expression to ask about the function of a particular part in a devise.
_What is this ...... for?
We use this expression to ask about the purpose of a particular part in a devise.

E_ Getting a good deal. Negotiating
Example: If you give me free delivery, then I ll take the extended warranty option. How is that ?
Negotiating or bargaining means you make a deal with the shop assistant to get the best sell. Please , try to solve exercise ( E: 2)

Lecture 2
Unit Three: I need to see a doctor
The unit focuses on describing symptoms and making registration at a doctor s surgery. It also helps learners how to understand doctors instructions .
You need to look at the heath problems and match them with their symptoms.
Example: fever ... have a high temperature, shiver and sweat

B_ Listening_ Registrating at a doctor s surgery
In order to know how to register at a doctor s surgery, you need to listen to conversation 24 or read the audioscript on p. 87. Then, try to solve exercise 1 and 2 on p.19
D_ Describing symptoms: Listen to conversation 26 or read the audioscript on p.88.
You can tell your doctor how you feel by using such expressions:
I feel dizzy.
I am having trouble getting to sleep.
I am shivering and sweating
Think of other symptoms that you have experienced before.
E: Understanding the diagnosis and doctor s instructions
Have a look at the following vocabulary:
Prescription, tablets, week course, treatment
Doctors usually explain your problem and give you some instructions of how to use the medicine . You may hear expressions such as 1000mg tablets, 3× per day before. Which means you have to take the tablets three times a day before meals.

Now , please listen to conversation 30 or read the audioscript on p. 88 . Try to understand the doctor s instructions.
