The 90-day correlation between Bitcoin and gold has surged to its highest level since 2020, while Bitcoin’s link to equities has weakened significantly. According to Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan, this shift reflects changing investor behavior driven by macroeconomic developments in August.

Following the U.S. Treasury's bond-buying moves, Bitcoin jumped 22.4%, gold rose 5%, and stock markets declined. As concerns over currency devaluation grow, both assets are increasingly seen as hedges—with Bitcoin described as a “high-octane version of gold.”
