The Wall Street Journal has uncovered a misleading marketing push by Polymarket, alleging the prediction platform paid influencers to post videos featuring fabricated betting wins. A review of 1,105 videos from 10 creators revealed that nearly all showcased non-existent trades.
Investigators found that many used cloned versions of Polymarket’s website to simulate victories, often relying on outdated clips and fabricated news headlines. These videos collectively reached over 140 million views across social platforms.
According to the report, Polymarket spent $2,000–$3,000 monthly on bloggers to produce deceptive content. In 118 of these videos, creators appeared to profit $900,000—amounts that stand in stark contrast to reality, where similar actual bets would have resulted in a $166,000 loss.

Vitalik Buterin revealed that the Ethereum Foundation will cut its annual spending by around 40% this year. As part of the shift, the Privacy and Scaling Explorations (PSE) team will be disbanded, and the foundation’s institutional approach will be streamlined.
Future Devcon events will be smaller and more cost-effective, with greater emphasis placed on targeted developer groups—particularly those leveraging AI for formal code verification. Currently, the foundation spends roughly 15% of its reserves each year, but plans to reduce that to just 5% annually after 2030.
