Quantstamp has linked the recent $36 million breach of Humanity Protocol to North Korean hackers. The attack began with a phishing email disguised as coming from Bithumb, which deployed malware granting full remote access to an employee’s laptop.

Using that access, the threat actors harvested login credentials and private keys from the project director’s MetaMask wallet. Analysts identified a telling clue pointing to North Korea: the malware was digitally signed with a South Korean certificate issued by Hancom.
