Memorial Day

I’ve never been a combat troop, nor been in a position where I had to watch one or more of my buddies die, but even so the death of many of these fine men and women have shaped who I am. Here are just a few of the people and events that I remember on each Memorial Day.

The eight people that died in a smoking hole in the ground when the number three engine on their C-141 transport plane disintegrated on take off.

The young man you died when his A-10 flipped on landing after being shot up during the early days of Desert Storm. Wolf Blitzer was on that airplane that started his journey home to his family, and unceremoniously tapped the casket and asked, what is this? I offered a largely incoherent answer, but if I ever see Blitzer again, I have a much better one.

The two pilots that smacked the side of a mountain in the highlands of Scotland while flying low level in their F-15’s.

Seeing the wife of a young soldier collapse on the tarmac as his casket was lowered from the airplane, and then insisting that she ride in the hearse with him on the way to the funeral home.

Watching an Army Ranger lead the funeral detail for a young special forces soldier and salute the flag and the man inside the casket. The young man was his son.

The fallen National Guard Special Forces soldier that had already retired, but had been called back to active duty, only to lose it all.

Having the distinct honor to return home three of the seven men that died when their Texas Army National Guard C-47 helicopter crashed in Iraq. Call sign Red River 44

There are many others that I had the honor of standing and riding for as a member of the PGR. I don’t know, and don’t want to know how many of them there were, and I didn’t always have details of their lives other than they were cut tragically short.

I’ve also seen a few uplifting things. The public seems to have learned that these sacrifices are real and were made on their behalf. They started showing some of the respect that these young men and women deserve. The amount of support varied from one community to the next, but overall seemed to be on an upswing as the global war on terror tapered off. One event that made the largest impression on me was a funeral in north east Texas. The young man arrived at Greenville and was laid to rest somewhere near Paris Texas. Thousands of people lined the roads to honor that young man. The roads were lined with people standing and holding flags for mile upon mile upon mile. It’s one of the greatest things I’ve seen in my 65 years.

I will not forget the sacrifice that these people made, and I vow that even in retirement I will continue to fight for justice and freedom for their families.

Camilla, GA - Mayor Kelvin Owens and two former election officials, Rhunette Williford; and her former deputy superintendent, Cheryl Ford, who is currently Camilla’s city clerk, have been arrested on felony election interference charges.

A grand jury has indicted the 3 on a felony charge of election interference and a misdemeanor count of conspiring to commit election fraud. Bond hearing set for June 2. 🗳️

(I still believe door-to-door canvassing is crucial. Hard to organize and maintain over the long term .... yet crucial.

Every state should have its own independent grass root canvassing teams that are well organized and trained.

Every election should be seen as an opportunity to improve the process and recruit/train new volunteers. Over time things would become faster and simpler.

Thorough door-to-door canvassing would expose the fraud faster than anything else.

How can the printers inject millions of mail in ballots DURING AN ELECTION?

Quite easily actually.

They're the ONLY player in the elections that can show up with multiple truck loads of ballots at the post office without raising any alarms.

They arrive at the central postal distribution centers and are fully authorized to take the ballots off the truck and dump them directly into the general delivery sorting machines.

it would be normal if multiple trucks from the printer are doing this throughout the day.

And the same technology that is used to deliver your personalize credit card statement or utility bill can easily be purposed to fill in MILLIONS OF BALLOTS, stuff them in envelopes and then PRINT YOUR SIGNATURE on the envelope.

And if you do show up to vote in person after a mail ballot stole your vote, the officials will pat you on the head and hand you a provisional ballot.

The officials will tell you they will look into it, but we have been told by insiders most provisional ballots tossed

Stay on track and remember, if the whole world had honest elections, it would be a much better place.

I just learned the NY mayoral race today is using ranked choice voting. Let's see how this plays out.
