SPACE NEWS: Golden Dome Replaces Iron Dome

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon has quietly renamed the Trump administration’s ambitious national missile defense initiative from “Iron Dome for America” to “Golden Dome for America,” according to a recent advisory to defense contractors.

The name change came to light when Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, while discussing programs protected from potential budget cuts, referred to the system as “Golden Dome, or Iron Dome” in a recent video addressing the Pentagon’s efforts to identify $50 billion in cost savings in the 2026 budget.

What initially appeared to be a verbal slip has now been confirmed as an official program name change. “Please note the Department of Defense has renamed this program from ‘Iron Dome for America’ to ‘Golden Dome for America,'” the U.S. Missile Defense Agency stated in a Feb. 24 advisory to contractors submitting proposals.

Trump’s tariff threats & political pressures are believed to be reasons Central American countries agreed to receive deportation flights.

During his first month, Trump has deported 37,660 people, according US DHS, often to their country of origin, but sometimes to 3rd countries.

Several Central American countries have accepted deportation flights; own citizens & those from India, Pakistan & Iran. Approx. 300 arrived in Panama, more than 100 arrived in Costa Rica the two countries said. US has not released no. of flights & exact number of aliens.

Panama said on Feb 18, 299 foreign deportees were being detained in a hotel from 10 countries, including Iran, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan and China.

At least 135 people, including children, from Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan and Russia arrived in Costa Rica’s capital, San Jose, on February 20.

More than a hundred fires erupted across South Carolina on Saturday (March 1, 2025) as low humidity, a lack of precipitation and high winds fuelled a surge in conflagrations state wide.

One fire in the Carolina Forest area of Horry County was said to have impacted more than 250 acres, and was one of dozens of blazes across the state which were not contained as of 8:30 p.m. EST on Saturday evening.

“As of right now no homes have burned, though the siding of a few homes has been impacted,” state representative Tim McGinnis of Myrtle Beach, S.C. told his constituents on Facebook regarding the Carolina Forest fire.
