Microsoft’s Majorana 1 chip carves new path for quantum computing

Microsoft today introduced Majorana 1, the world’s first quantum chip powered by a new Topological Core architecture that it expects will realize quantum computers capable of solving meaningful, industrial-scale problems in years, not decades.

It leverages the world’s first topoconductor, a breakthrough type of material which can observe and control Majorana particles to produce more reliable and scalable qubits, which are the building blocks for quantum computers.

In the same way that the invention of semiconductors made today’s smartphones, computers and electronics possible, topoconductors and the new type of chip they enable offer a path to developing quantum systems that can scale to a million qubits and are capable of tackling the most complex industrial and societal problems, Microsoft said.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs is facing a fresh crisis after his lawyer Anthony Ricco stepped down from his legal team with a very cryptic statement.

In a motion for withdraw of counsel filed in New York on Thursday, Ricco said 'under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs'.

The notice added that discussions had been had with lead counsel Marc Agnifilo and Ricco before the motion was filed.

Ricco said that he would be providing no details to support the application, adding that government prosecutors had been notified and didn't take a stance.

Crowdstrike-Carahsoft Deal Probed by US Prosecutors, SEC(1)


US prosecutors & regulators are investigating a $32 mil deal between CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. and a tech distrib. to provide cybersecurity tools to the IRS.

Investigators for the DOJ and SEC have been interviewing people, collecting records related to the deal.

Carahsoft Technology Corp. paid CrowdStrike for the deal that the cybersecurity firm closed on last day of a fiscal 1/4 in 2023, IRS never purchased the products. The transaction under investigation was big enough that it could have made the difference between CrowdStrike beating or missing Wall Street projections for the period, although the Austin, Texas-based company has declined to detail how it accounted for the deal. Day after CrowdStrike reported results for the 1/4, its shares rose 10%.

Parallel probes, not previously reported, also represent additional scrutiny of Carahsoft, a dominant reseller of tech to the US.gov.
