Over in Africa's current No.1 gold miner Ghana, "Ultimately, my goal is that we are going to back our currency with gold," says Mahamadu Bawumia – presidential candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in December's upcoming elections – echoing but not naming Zimbabwe's new gold-backed ZiG currency amid a growing row over the relentless decline of the Cedi on the FX market.

Gold priced in the US currency regained almost $20 per Troy ounce to $2343, while the UK gold price in Pounds per ounce edged up to £1840 and Euro prices also showed a small gain for the week so far at €2161.

Ex- BBC News presenter Huw Edwards charged with 3 counts of making indecent images of children.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between 2020 and 2022 and relate to 37 images that were shared on a WhatsApp chat, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Arrested last Nov., charged last month.

To appear in court, London, Weds.

“Huw Edwards, 62, of Southwark, London has been charged with 3 counts making indecent images of children following Police investigation.

“The offences, which are alleged to have taken place Dec. 2020 to April 2022, relate to images shared on WhatsApp

“Edwards was arrested on 8 Nov. 2023. Charged on Weds, 26 June following authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service.

Harvey Weinstein transferred from a NYC jail to hospital to undergo treatment for a variety of health problems incl. COVID-19 & pneumonia in both lungs.

He is awaiting trial in NY on rape & sexual assault charges, moved from the city’s Rikers Island jail complex to a locked ward at Bellevue Hospital. Other conditions he was to be treated for included diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis, and fluid on his heart and lungs, according to a statement released by Weinstein’s publicist that attributed the health information to Craig Rothfeld, Weinstein’s prison consultant.

“We continue to express our gratitude to the officers, doctors and nurses” in the city’s corrections and public hospital systems “who saw to it that Mr. Weinstein was immediately transferred to the Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward,” said publicist, Juda Engelmayer.

He has had at least one stint at Bellevue before, after he was first brought to NYC for legal proceedings related to his rape case.
