The "new strain or variant" is gonna hit around mid February 2022. The "release 17" is going online at the end of January. It takes around two weeks to start feeling the effects of radiation sickness.

This is 5G beamed from satellites. The frequencies being used now are mostly 2.4 and 60 GHz but that is only effective for very short distances which is why they have to put a 5G antenna every 1000 feet or so. I'm not sure yet what wavelength this new system will be operating but you can bet your ass it's gonna be powerful to reach from space.
