Julian Assange : ANOTHER STEP - march 26, 2024

. The UK High Court grants Assange permission to appeal extradition to the US on the grounds that it violates his right to freedom of expression, that Assange may face prejudice on the grounds of nationality, and that the US prosecution exposes him to the death penalty.

. The High Court refused to allow Assange to appeal on the grounds that he is being prosecuted for his "political opinions," that extradition would violate his right to a fair trial, and that it would violate his right to life or expose him to cruel and inhuman treatment.

. The US government has until 16 April to submit "assurances" to the UK High Court in the Assange case.

. If none are submitted, the High Court will allow the appeal to proceed on the three grounds.

👉A final verdict has therefore been delayed until 20 May!

Yang Ming Vessel Hot Turkish Wharf Brought Down Cranes - Turn Up Sound

The 2015-built 14,000 TEU ship, YM Witness, chartered from Seaspan Corporation, reportedly knocked down three container cranes in the accident.

YM Witness, assigned to Yang Ming’s MD3 Asia-Mediterranean service, had arrived from another Turkish port, Ambarli, had a pilot on board and was trying to berth around 3.45pm local time when the accident happened.

Reportedly, a worker operating one of the cranes was injured in the accident. Evyapport officials said that several containers on YM Witness also fell into the waters.

The damages are estimated to be in the region of US$50 million.
