Mexican President Vowed Soldiers Will Be Prosecuted
President André Manuel López Obrador vowed that soldiers caught on camera 'executing' five alleged members of a criminal organization will be prosecuted.
Video from May 18 showed the victims' black pickup truck crashing at a high speed into wall of a store in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, across from Laredo, Texas. The military truck that was chasing it then crashed into the right side of the truck near the passenger door.
Men forced out of the pickup, beaten, dragged across ground, forced to kneel facing the wall, later shot before the soldiers tried to cover-up the scene.
'Apparently this was an execution, and that cannot be permitted,' López Obrador said Wednesday during his daily morning briefing at the National Palace in Mexico City. 'Those responsible are about to be turned over to the appropriate authorities.

Boris Johnson is standing down immediately as a Conservative MP after an investigation into the Partygate scandal found he misled parliament and recommended a lengthy suspension from the House of Commons.
The former prime minister angrily accused the investigation of trying to drive him out, and claimed there was a “witch-hunt under way, to take revenge for Brexit and ultimately to reverse the 2016 referendum result”.
