Gaetz Warns Immediate Motion To Vacate If Debt Ceiling Deal Be Reached w/o Republicans Majority Vote

Without majority support from Republicans, it could have major repercussions for the party’s leadership.

Gaetz suggested that such a move would not only violate a previous agreement but could also trigger a motion to vacate the Speaker’s position.

On Newsmax, Gaetz elaborated on the potential implications of a bill being passed with the aid of Democrats. “If a majority of Republicans are against a piece of legislation and you use Democrats to pass it, that would immediately be a black-letter violation of the deal we had with McCarthy to allow his ascent to the Speakership,” he said. He further warned that such a violation “would likely trigger an immediate motion to vacate.”

Everything that touches the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation reeks of cynicism.

The group’s latest financial disclosure shows it ended the last tax year with a $9 million deficit — plus a new wrinkle: blatantly trying to buy off critics.

At least two big-ticket payments, per the outfit’s tax form 990 for tax year 2022, went to prominent detractors.

The Tamir Rice Foundation, named for a Cleveland boy killed by the police, got $400,000; its head, Samaria Rice, had blasted BLM’s Patrisse Cullors over her questionable ethics.

And the Michael O.D. Brown We Love Our Sons & Daughters Foundation, named after the teen whose death sparked the Ferguson riots, took in $89,303; Brown’s father had come out swinging against BLM for its opacity.

This follows such well-documented and dubious outlays as buying real estate for its founders, handing out juicy payments to the firms of board members and employees and paying for private jets — outrages that drove Cullors to step down (at least officially).

Vanguard Fined: Misleading Statements Overstated Yield

Vanguard Group, world's largest issuer of mutual funds, fined and censured by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) for errors appearing in about 8.5 million customer account statements.

FINRA, Wall Street's self-regulatory organization, said in a filing signed last month by representatives of both parties that Vanguard overstated projected yield and projected annual income for nine money market funds from November 2019 to September 2020. It ordered Vanguard to pay a fine of $800,000.

"From at least October 2019 to June 2021, certain VMC account statements inaccurately presented market appreciation/depreciation and investment returns," the filing said.

Vanguard "accepts and consents" without admitting or denying the findings and the sanctions will come into effect on a later date to be determined by FINRA.

Pope Francis In Hospital (AGAIN) For A Check-Up

ROME, June 6 - Pope Francis has gone to Rome's Gemelli hospital for a check-up, ANSA news agency reported on Tuesday, quoting what it said were sources with knowledge of the matter.

No immediate word from the Vatican.

Pope, 86, spent five days in hospital earlier this year with a lung infection and last month skipped audiences due to a fever.

Francis, marked the 10th anniversary of his pontificate in March, suffered a number of ailments in recent years.

In July 2021 he had part of his colon removed in an operation aimed at addressing painful bowel condition, diverticulitis.

Vatican announced plans on Saturday for Francis to visit Mongolia on Aug.31-Sept.4.

Before that due to visit Portugal Aug. 2-6 to attend the World Youth Day in Lisbon and visit the Shrine of Fatima.
